Glebsig

Ever since the first Glebsigi lifted their eyes above the surface of the glacial lakes on Ladnah to peek at the stars, these inquisitive molluscoids have felt an affinity for the unknown. Much as their early ancestors' tentacles grasped and stroked after new objects on the chilly alpine lake beds of their homeworld, burgeoning Glebsigan society reached for technological innovation and spiritual enlightenment throughout the centuries that followed. A sedentary and enduring species, the Glebsigi have perhaps by necessity developed a complex yet highly effective bureaucratic apparatus for dealing with the intricacies of managing a globally unified society. Additionally, their lack of natural predators on Ladnah has led the Glebsigi to exist in a state of permanently optimistic curiosity regarding other lifeforms. Having established a firm societal foundation on Ladnah using a mixture of spiritual doctrine and careful organization, the Glebsigi now once more raise their eyes to what lies beyond.   Glebsigi have round bulbous bodies that can float up to 5 feet off the ground, with eight long thin tentacles that hang under them letting them grab and manipulate objects, two of which near their front are primary and have a higher gripping strength. They have a single large compound eye in the front center of their body, making them excellent at working multiple screens simultaneously. The tops of their bodies are a hard blue shell which hangs down part way over their soft fleshy purple underbelly.   They communicate naturally through low audible bellows and by flashing patterns on their bioluminescent tentacles. While not bright enough to produce any meaningful amount of light, the patterns are useful in distracting and paralyzing their natural prey of small fish. To communicate with other lifeforms, they typically employ a mechanical device that translates their bellows and electrochemical signals from their brain to their tentacles into a digital voice other species can hear and recognize. Some prefer instead to develop their species latent psionic powers and speak telepathically, though this is a hard skill for some to develop.
