More Difficult Magic Item Identification
Originally hailing from the Dungeon Masters Guide (p.136), this section provides more sense of mystery and discovery by making it so that the nature of magic items are not always known.
• Unknown properties of magical items
Magic items have a greater mystique and the ability to identify the properties of a magic item during a short rest are removed, and require the identify spell, experimentation, or both to reveal what a magic item does.
