Genie Engine

The travel of the future and beyond

"From feet we saddled stronger legs, and from those legs we traveled faster and farther with wheels. When we traveled as far as we could by land, we took to the sea by ships carved from lumber, and finally when the sea could no longer contain us we took to the air and soared"   -Carth Amid Minister of Commerce of the Vudra Trade Empire

Manufacturing

The Channeling Engine is able to control the ebb and flow of a genies power. Allowing airships to move at amazing speeds and surprising agility. All of these able to be done with a set of mundane levers, wheels, and cogs so anyone may operate it. If built incorrectly, or worse damaged, the entire engine would risk destabilization and cause the very violent destruction of the genie within. Along with the vessel itself.   The magics which bind a genie have been based on from generation to generation. An intricate use of carvings and symbols all meaning something different in its own right. Strung together it has its own meaning then if they were engraved by themselves. These symbols are carved into the engines metal and the ships wooden ring struts in order to keep the tremendous power contain. Only the binders themselves know their meaning. If damaged or erased, the genie would become free to return to its own plane. Causing the airship to lose power and fall.   The vessel itself has man struts, trusses, and supports. All aligned to prevent the sharp movements and speed of the vessel from tearing itself apart. Most don't consider this work to be important. Thinking all you need do is slap a Channeling Engine on any ship, power it with a genie, and you have an airship.

Access & Availability
The Cogsworth Club and Kelsh hold onto their respective technological secret's, thus making an airship is costly and time consuming. Especially since Chamberlin Skyworks is the only shipbuilders as of now that either party trusts in producing the vessels.   Most active airships in the world belong either to the Vudra Trade Empire, Gnomelands, or the Kelsh Empire. While Vudra certainly has the largest fleet of airships, they are mostly light quick trading vessels. The Gnomelands have used the technology to raise cities and outposts into the sky, caring little of mobility. Finally there is the Kelsh Empire who's fleets are primarily military in nature. Used to police the vast and wild territory of theirs.   There are some privately owned airships in the world, but they are few and far between. Owned mostly by the wealthy or influential of the world.
Discovery
The Arcane Airship are a culmination of many technologies from across the world. But the reason they were able to come together was Lek Chamberlin. Lek was a Vudrani shipmaker before he changed the world. Designing the fastest vessel navel vessels of his time. He was lawded as a one of the best, if not the best, naval craftsman of his time. It was to this fact in-which he was commissioned to rebuild the Kelsh Empires navy. In his constant travels to the desert nation he was subjected to wondrous sights. The Kelshians had mastered the art of binding genie to their service. Thus becoming an integral facet of Kelshian life. But even the amazing things like shielding cities from storms and conjuring cartfulls of raw material were petty compared to the vision Lek had.   Calling upon his friends in the Cogsworth Club and recruiting some local genie binders, he was to construct a wondrous vessel. One that could travel the skies at an amazing speed. The gnomes of the Cogsworth Club were able to construct an engine which could disperse all the raw energy of a bound genie into a ring of energy. A ring which could lift and propel a vessel through the air. Of course the Kelsh provided the genie and the magic in order to bind it. And Lek designed a light but sturdy ship, one that could withstand the strain of such rapid movement. It was the invention that changed the world.
