The Divine Freight
History of the Freight
The human body. A complex, intricate system of organs all communicating back and forth with each other to keep their bodies alive. Some process nutrients, some dispose of waste, and others send signals throughout the body to control actions and responses. And yet, none of the mentioned responsibilities include protecting said organs from invaders. No, repelling bacteria and viruses calls upon a different beast; one that stops at nothing until all harm that may fall on the host is properly destroyed.
The immune system.
Aeons ago, upon the giant of Stashu'une, the need for such a defense was required. The first ever mortals of the land were threatened with extinction, as monsters and plagues grew deadly and resistant to their means of defense at the time. When all seemed lost, hope returned to the mortals in the form of a golden, glistening locomotive that sped across the land, strengthening crops and medicines while weakening and outright obliterating any monsters that dared to attack the mortal settlements.
Blessed by this miraculous intervention, the mortals of the world sent prayers and practiced rituals in honor of The Divine Freight in hopes of further bounties and prosperity to all. Though there were moments when hope began to fade and faith in the Freight dwindled, the re-emergence of evils that threatened the mortal populace would provoke the Freight once more, and faith would renew in its church. Even now, the people of Stashu'une continue to attend the Freight's many churches and pray with all their hearts in hopes of seeing the legendary train of the gods once more...
Description
The Divine Freight is a 10-car freight train appearing rarely across the resting giant of Stashu'une and acts as its immune response, weakening and destroying monsters in its proximity while blessing the people living on the giant with health and prosperity. Each car is covered in an angelic glow that can be seen from yards away, and everything from the cars to the wheels are marked with flowing engravings that mimic veins. Complimenting the glow is a golden finish that never fades from the aeons that the freight has existed.
Those who claim to have seen the Freight have noted that it doesn't travel upon any tracks as it speeds across the landscape. In fact, the Freight seems to travel as if anywhere is its train tracks, from desert sands, to jungle floors, and even across and underneath the oceans of Stashu'une.
Appearances
As the population of Stashu'une grew and fought back against the monsters that threatened them, sightings of The Divine Freight grew more and more rare, as it would only appear in times when mortals were threatened. In the modern age, the Freight seems to appear more frequently to the northeast, where monsters seem to be a common problem to the settlers in the region. As the cities close to the southern pole have taken advantage of the previous visits of the Freight and grown prosperous, the Freight has begun appearing there less and less.
