Week 1
Change
Change means a lot of things, but the simplest definition is "an act or process through which something becomes different." So, how can this affect our worlbuilding? I've seen a lot of people talking about social change, cultural change, even technological change. But the thing I want to focus on most is character change or character development; the way the outside world causes characters to change their ideas, beliefs, and feelings. When I started this world I knew I wanted it to be character driven. But characters are influenced by their environments and companions and experiences. These things also change in themselves, and change the characters because of this. The idea that all change affects each other fascinates me and is something I'd like to explore in my worldbuilding.A New World, and New Stories
So, it's summer camp 2024. I started using WorldAnvil last September (over six months ago!) and have participated in quite a few challenges, but this will be my first summer camp! Some of you will notice that this is not the same world that I started with last year, and that's for two reasons. Firstly, I just wasn't vibing with the old world, it was causing me stress and I wasn't having fun. I felt a pressure to create things for the people that followed me and that led to point two. Creative burnout.
Recognising this had helped me choose sensible goals for summer camp which I will talk about shortly.
I also really quickly need to point out the fact that the summer camp color scheme fits so nicely with my world!
Summer Camp Camp Chill Badge
Nnie's Camp Chill Guidelines
- Remember the prompts are suggestions, not requirements.
- Write what you're passionate about, leave what you aren't.
- Relax when you feel tired.
- Fight off any pesky brain-squitos trying to make you doubt your work.
- Don't abandon your non-summercamp goals! Write that article you're itching to write, even if it doesn't fit any prompts.
