One must ask themselves if conflict and destruction are the universe's natural states, and peace and stability are simply temporary breaks amongst the unending strum and drang.

The Paradise War, followed soon by the First Contact Wars for us humans. The various Gothenin "special operations", and Valenki Insurrections. The Scouring of Balthas. The perpetual state of the Ghoul Stars, and the insanity that they seem to breed.

Even the Empire of Fossils, so named for the massive lifeforms that now sit as eternally-decaying bones on many worlds, and seemingly having a hand upon almost every world in the known galaxy could not stave off eventual destruction, whatever it was.

Yet we persist all the same. Building, creating, raising, and all the acts that stand in opposition to the concept of entropy. Maybe one of us will get it right, in the end.
