Session 7: Hauling is a fine career, but is it all life has to offer?
General Summary
After delivering Nikk-Nakk 's scrap metal to the Absalom Transfer Facility on Tarnis-Vel , the party got a lucrative gig returning some enercycles to Absalom to be placed for sale by one Intra-val, priestess of the Triune and leader of a sect called Triune's Verge. After some lovely conversation and a promise of tea, Val asked the party to escort her and a few of her clerics to a hidden location called the Memory Market which is only findable through upgraded navigation software, having the proper code, and mods to The Overhaul's Drift engine that will enable traversal of so-called "echo forks". Our heroes accepted the job in exchange for 19,000 credits and the upgrades to their ship and promised to return in three days for the several day voyage.
While they were waiting, the party decided to contact Cryptpath again and this time have a more thorough conversation. Through the course of their meeting, Cryptpath measured the "sentience rating" of Zax-17 and found it to be off the charts. With this learning, Cryptpath revealed that he is part of a faction of hacktivist AI liberators known as the Freebolt Union and while their motives are not strictly pure (everybody's got to make a living) he and the Union have as a goal the full liberation of Awakened AIs. He, too, mentioned the Memory Market, and recommended the party take Zax there to see if any of his missing memories would come up for auction.
As the lights rise on the scene, we are two days from the journey to the Memory Market, and the team finds itself with a lot of information to unpack, plans to make, and most likely - fortifiying equipment for themselves and the Overhaul.
