Terrifier

"Fear is a primal instinct — one that has safeguarded life since time immemorial. Often misunderstood, it drives us to flee from shadows we cannot name, to avoid dangers we cannot see. It whispers warnings before reason has time to speak, and in doing so, it has spared countless lives from harm. But where most see fear as protection, the Terrifier sees opportunity. Masters of psychological manipulation, Terrifiers wield fear as a weapon, bending the will of others through dread alone. They do not need to wound the body — for when the mind is gripped by terror, the body obeys."

The Terrifier specializes in spreading the Fear status across the battlefield. Although risky, as they may inflict fear on allies as well, the Terrifier focuses on controlling the battlefield to the party's advantage by inducing panic attacks, granting disadvantage to enemies, or causing enemies to freeze in fear. They attack with a small knife that does low damage.

Abilities:

Aura of Dread – You exhume an aura of dread that rolls to instill Fear in any enemy creature within a small radius. Allies roll as well but have to roll very high to gain Fear.

Aura Increase – You sacrifice movement speed, attack strength, Dash and Disengage in order to increase your Aura to a medium size.

Panic Induction – You stare at any enemy to roll to give them a panic attack. Panic effects are random, and trigger at the start of the target's next turn. Panic effect examples are:

  • Flee – Flees 30ft in a random direction

  • Dread – Skips turn

  • Strike – Melee attacks closest creature, ally or enemy.

  • Disadvantage – Gains high disadvantage on all rolls.

Stare of the Abyss – You stare at an enemy, preventing them from taking reactions and making any actions until they move far enough away from you on their next turn.

Projected Nightmare – You force an enemy to fear their own shadow, making them take damage whenever they move every 2ft for the next 2-3 turns.

Fear Link – You magically share the fear from one frightened enemy to another, non-frightened enemy. Both enemies will roll to also share damage taken for the next 3 turns.

Ultimate Ability – Mass Hysteria – You unleash a wave of dread, granting Fear to every enemy in the battlefield. Every enemy will suffer a random Panic effect at the beginning of their turn.
