Starsorrow Fairy

The Starsorrow Fairy is among the most enigmatic beings of Thalas, a race so rare that only one is said to be born every four centuries. Their appearances are fleeting, their lives scarcely recorded, and so their nature remains cloaked in speculation. Some believe they are incarnations of sorrow itself, beings formed from the unspoken grief of the world; others claim they are emissaries of the goddess Thalas, sent to ensure that war never again consumes her islands. Yet the truth is unknown, for the Starsorrow Fairies rarely linger long enough for their purpose to be understood.
To most of Thalas, their existence is little more than rumor, overlooked by kingdoms too occupied with their own rivalries and treasures. A handful of poets and mystics, however, hold fast to the idea that the Starsorrow Fairy is a living omen, a reminder from the goddess that peace is fragile and must be preserved. Whether guardian, warning, or accident of fate, the Starsorrow Fairy endures as one of the great mysteries of Thalas—a presence so rare it is easily forgotten, yet so strange it can never be truly dismissed.
