Spellshaper

"The art of magic — the ability to wield elemental affinities and manipulate the forces of life — has long been studied, mastered, and taught. But there exists a rarer path: not the learning of spells, but their reshaping. This is the craft of the Spellshapers — arcane scholars who specialize in the formation, alteration, and unraveling of magic itself. As spells begin to form, they twist their structure; as incantations are cast, they nullify or redirect them. Spellshapers delve into the very architecture of magic, seeking not just to use it, but to understand and command its creation at the root." 

 

 

The Spellshapers are masters of controlling and manipulating magic being cast near them, rather than casting magic themselves. They work around entering different Trances per turn, each trance granting specific spell-altering abilities to use on casted spells. Each Trance ends at the start of your next turn. 

 

 

Abilities

 

Enter Trance – You enter a spellshaping trance of choice, bringing movement speed down to 0 and becoming unable to dodge. Trances availabe are the following: 

 

-Trance of Echo – You enter a trance of echo, allowing you to use reactions to copy spells cast by nearby enemies from now until your next turn and store them either for yourself or for other magic-based allies in your party. These spells will become usable on said allies' next turn, or on your own next turn, but will vanish if not used for 2 turns. 

 

-Trance of Deflection – You enter a trance of deflection, allowing you to use reactions to redirect spells being cast by enemies you see. These spells can be redirected unto other enemies that are within range of the enemy that is casting it, or onto ground areas within their range as well.  

 

-Trance of Alteration – You enter a trance of alteration, allowing you to use reactions to change the affinity of spells being cast that you can see, either by enemies or allies. This can be used to ensure your allies are not attacked by affinities they are weak to, or to change an ally's spell into an affinity they are not in tune with.  

 

 

Spell Memory Pool – As a bonus action, you can store a max of 3 spells attained by Trance of Echo into your memory, allowing you to use it at will a max of 3 times the next day.  

 

Reshape Surge – Thrice per long rest, you may instantly change trance outside of your turn when any reaction is triggered.  

 

Reshaped Sacrifice – You absorb the damage any ally in your party was dealt by a spell on their past turn to regenerate any damage they took, and instead transfer it to you. 

 

 

Ultimate Ability – Field Rewrite – All enemies on the battlefield's spells being casted for the next 3 turns are automatically reshaped to their disadvantage without the expending of the Spellshaper's magic points. Every spell that is cast is also rolled to be completely negated and silenced.
