Rootkin

The Rootkin are a Lucian race of humanoid beings born from nature itself — their bodies composed of interwoven roots, leaves, and living wood. With vine-woven hair, bark-carved faces, and rooted fingers that can extend and intertwine with the world around them, they resemble walking trees more than traditional humans. Rootkin reproduce through a sacred ritual: merging for one full day beneath direct sunlight, allowing new life to grow from their union. For most of their history, they lived in seclusion within the lush plains and forests of Mielfa, tending to the land in harmony and avoiding contact with the outside world.

But in recent years, the Rootkin have begun to emerge from their groves, slowly integrating into wider society and forming peaceful ties with other kingdoms. Though still viewed with awe and mystery, their quiet strength and deep wisdom have made them valued citizens — ambassadors of nature in an ever-changing world.
