the Bossmen's version of Squiddy facts
Notes gathered from the three way live Holovid conference:
Eztrigan was one of Palpatine's pet projects. Whatever his original name was, Eztrigan did not know that he was a Palpatine project -- especially since this was before the Clone Wars, during Anakin's time as a Jedi Padawan. One in a sequence of experiments along these ludicrous lines, Darth Sidious "hyper-elevated" a severely injured Quarren outlaw tech by infusing him with the Dark Side until the victim became Force Sensitive. The victim of this process is called a "Sithspawn".
The newly created Dark Force user could connect through The Force to a small-freighter-sized starship, one built with its own set of mechanical tentacles. Bossman 2 recalls that the power cells for the "tentacle" actuators were "bleeding kyber crystals.
In his version of the story, Eztrigan insisted that "Kenobi and the Boy Skywalker" used an artifact.
Neither Bossman remembers making use of anything that might qualify as an "artifact". They surmise that it could have been the barely-seen statue just outside an old shelter/temple/whatever. The intense Force-generated storm prevented them from picking up much in the way of details. It might have been an old Jedi site; it might have been Dai Bendu, or something else entirely.
Rather than an "artifact", the complicating factor might have been a "Force Node".
Bossman 2 says that a "Force Node" is a concentration of the Living Force. He says that it is always Light-sided. He says Darksiders have never managed to corrupt one, though some have tried; it is inherently tied to life. Force Nodes are attached to temples or other permanent places of worship, probably in the sense of the FN existing therefore someone building a spiritual or religious hall.
Original identity records of this former outlaw tech would be in Darth Sidious's "sithspawn" laboratory + archive, somewhere in the interior of the Chancellor's/Emperor's palace on Coruscant.
After having thought about it for another day, I wonder if the original work was done on Naboo: Sheev Palpatine was not yet Chancellor.
