Belassar-2 / Ardent

Known locally as Ardent, the second world in the Belassar system is a small, lightly-populated world of plains and tundras interspersed with large, silvery mineral deposits. The world is warm and dry, leading to quite an arid atmosphere.   A native population of humans has lived on this world for longer than Republic records are accurate. They are predominantly an insular people with little interest in the wider galaxy or star travel, preferring to be left alone to practice their own form of ascetic religion, but since they have been deemed "resistant to Imperial rule," they (often unwillingly) provide a lot of the system's forced labor. Additionally, mining operations have destroyed many of their traditional sites and nomadic routes, occasionally causing friction.

The real-world influence for the natives of this planet are Tibetans, complete with analogue oppression. I don't plan to dive too heavily into the themes of bigotry, but the slavery is awful and the other Belassarans generally do consider it a tragedy-from-a-distance, better-them-than-me sort of situation.
