Star Trek: Shadows of the Galaxy

Welcome to Star Trek: Shadows of the Galaxy
The Federation is fraying. Old alliances are strained, new powers are rising, and dangerous technologies—Borg salvage, synth breakthroughs, Delta Quadrant artifacts—threaten to destabilize the fragile galactic balance.
You are not standard Starfleet.
You’re part of an elite team of operatives working in the shadows, tasked with containing threats too volatile for the usual diplomatic playbook. Your missions are off-the-record, morally grey, and high-stakes. One day it’s infiltration. The next, first contact. Sometimes you negotiate. Sometimes you pull the trigger.
You start as fresh Lieutenants (junior grade) and Ensigns aboard the USS Rhea, running routine away missions, expected to follow the brief and stay in line. But you break the script—asking the wrong questions, chasing signals no one else noticed, going where you weren’t cleared to go. Now you’re in deep—surrounded by powerful factions, shadow agendas, and shifting loyalties. Trust is a rare commodity. Congratulations: you’ve found the part of Starfleet that doesn’t exist on paper.
Campaign Overview
- Concept: Play as covert Starfleet operatives under Intelligence directive. Expect espionage, tech interdiction, diplomacy under false flags, and high-pressure ops where failure isn’t an option.
- The Ship: Your mobile base is a heavily modified Starfleet vessel, disguised as a civilian ship, rigged for modularity, stealth, and survival. Covert holotech and restricted tech are onboard—if you know how to use them.
- Mission Themes: Recover stolen technology, dismantle rogue AI cells, disrupt slaver networks, silence unregulated research, and navigate crisis diplomacy in politically unstable sectors.
- Timeframe: Post-Voyager, early Picard-era. Expect fallout from the Dominion War, synth ban ripple effects, Borg tech proliferation, and fractures within the Federation itself.
- Character Options: Starfleet officers with murky pasts, redacted files, and unique skillsets. Science officers who hack forbidden tech, medics who bend ethics, diplomats who lie without flinching. Choose your specialty. Write your shadow.
- Mechanics: Star Trek Adventures 2e. Tactical decision-making, strong narrative play, and systems that reward ingenuity over brute force. Every encounter is an opportunity—and a test of your principles.
Crew Roles
Every specialist brings unique weight to the mission:
- Commanding Officer (CO): Decides when to follow orders—and when to rewrite them.
- Executive Officer (XO): Keeps the team tight, efficient, and alive.
- Helm Officer (Conn): Master of evasive maneuvers, tight landings, and fast getaways.
- Chief Operations Officer (Ops): Balances systems, logistics, power, and communications on the fly.
- Chief Engineer (Chief, CE): Fixes what should be broken, breaks what shouldn’t exist.
- Chief Science Officer (CSO): Interprets alien data, analyzes anomalies, and runs interference with dangerous tech.
- Chief Tactical Officer (CTAC): Shoots straight and calls the shots when the phasers heat up.
- Chief Medical Officer (CMO): Heals the body—and knows when to look the other way.
- Chief of Security (CSEC): Protects the team from threats both outside and within.
- Chief of Intelligence (CINT): Collects and evaluates current intelligence available.
Your Mission, Your Mark
Shadows of the Galaxy isn’t about clear lines. It's about operating in the fog—where right and wrong are blurred, and survival often comes at a cost.
Starfleet says the galaxy is still unified. That peace holds.
You’ll learn how wrong they are.
Will you preserve the Federation’s ideals—or redefine them?
Will you pull the galaxy back from the brink—or let it burn?
The frontier’s still out there. And someone has to protect it—from the shadows.
