Sickbay
SICKBAY
Primary Medical Center — USS Heimdahl
Location: Dorsal Module, Deck 7
Scope: Centralized full-care facility. Supplemented by two auxiliary sickbays (Middle & Ventral).
FUNCTION OVERVIEW
The Main Sickbay is Heimdahl’s core medical facility. It houses the full range of diagnostic, surgical, psychological, and xenomedical capabilities required for extended deployment, emergency response, and treatment of crew across multiple species—including Borg-modified physiology.
Other modules contain scaled-down sickbay pods:
- Middle Module (Secondary): 2-bed triage, minimal biobed diagnostics, basic synthmed replicator.
- Ventral Module (Tertiary): 1-bed emergency pod with stasis injector, dermal regen, basic defibrillation.
These are sufficient for stabilization or minor treatment, but any surgical or complex care routes through Main Sickbay.
COMPONENTS & FACILITIES
Operating Theater
- Fully sterile suite with adaptive biobed and nanolaser surgical arms.
- Integrated neural-stimulation bay for procedures involving exo-synaptic systems (esp. cybernetic patients).
- EM field sterilization zone for pre-op containment.
Medical Labs
- Houses dual-spectrum pathogen analysis suites.
- Capable of retroviral modeling, antigen synthesis, tissue cloning (limited), and neural interface mapping.
- Equipped with containment hoods and decontamination panels tied to shipwide alert system.
Counseling Suite
- Private, sound-dampened consultation room.
- Monitored for psychological stress markers during use (Nyx maintains privacy unless thresholds are exceeded).
- Used regularly by CSec and Medical Officers for post-mission debriefs and trauma stabilization.
- Includes Betazoid sensory null field for emotionally volatile sessions (useful for officers like Lon Taril).
OPERATIONAL NOTES
- The EMH (Emergency Medical Hologram – Kepler) is centered in Main Sickbay. Auxiliary pods trigger a lower-tier holographic nurse assistant unless routed through Dorsal.
- Sickbay’s core is on a separate power buffer to survive core overload or shield failures for at least 8 hours.
Summary:
Main Sickbay is the lifeline of the Heimdahl—advanced, adaptive, and battle-proven. The auxiliary pods are sufficient to keep a body breathing. This is where that body gets brought back to life.
