After thirty days of extended downtime, the crew of the USS Heimdahl resumed active duty—though not without incident.
During the layover at Starbase 471 Sæhrîmnir, the station experienced a number of odd system malfunctions. In one particularly memorable glitch, Captain Shris and a group of Klingon warriors were induced—via a holoprojection override—to perform a dance routine on a stripper pole. The footage was livestreamed to the station bar, Roast Heath, drawing significant amusement from its patrons. While Shris's true identity was obscured by the holofeed—which displayed a generic reptilian figure—the Klingons were not so lucky. Their unintentional performance triggered a diplomatic incident that is still being negotiated.
The second anomaly occurred during what was described as a "wholesome holographic herding exercise" involving simulated boars. The program backfired when the hogs reversed the roles and began herding the participants. Lt. Shirel and Lt. Prazda narrowly avoided being forcibly "vaccinated" by the program before Cmdr Aze shut the simulation down just in time.
These incidents prompted an internal investigation by the Heimdahl’s senior staff. Within hours, they traced the source to an off-grid agricultural moon—Theta-7. At Warp 9.99, they reached the system swiftly and conducted an orbital scan of the moon. What they found was unexpected: millions of hogs and boars, numerous automated substations providing food and maintenance support, and a central command facility. The sensors detected fourteen life signs—five original workers and nine unauthorized personnel, later confirmed to be pirates who had seized control of the installation.
The away team beamed down approximately one kilometer from the facility perimeter. Using environmental cover, they approached and located a felled log suitable for scaling the electrified perimeter fence. Once inside, they initiated a maintenance cycle via the fusion reactor’s local control, effectively cutting power across the station.
Two pirates, accompanied by a hostage worker, were dispatched to investigate the failure. They were ambushed by Captain Shris—dropping from the ceiling—and Lt.JG Shirel, who, with Fenrir’s assistance, incapacitated both without resistance.
With tactical coordination provided by Fenrir, the crew enacted a diversion: the security grid was taken offline, allowing Fenrir to herd a large boar family through the breach. His performance was nothing short of exceptional, achieving five successes and overwhelming the simulation’s difficulty threshold. The stampede of thirty enhanced boars caused enough confusion and disruption within the base to allow the team to strike swiftly. In just three engagement rounds, the crew neutralized the remaining pirates and secured the central command office, confronting the pirate leader directly.
Unfortunately, what they did not detect in orbit was a cloaked Romulan Warbird, silently observing the unfolding events from high above the moon.
