I think… I think we made it. It wasn’t perfect, and it definitely wasn’t by the book, but it worked. That counts, right?

They were brave today. Ward didn’t even hesitate when he walked across that whole open field, like it was just a Tuesday. And Wallace… Wallace made the sky bend. I don’t even have the words for what she did with that shuttle. I think if I tried to fly like that, the whole nacelle would’ve melted off.

Shris kept Cmdr. Hathen distracted with so much confidence, I was worried he’d charm the dilithium out of the ground. And Aze… he doesn’t need to pretend anymore. He’s not just a weapon. He’s more. I saw it today.

And me? I gave them a workaround. Shadow Lance. Not a cheat. Just a sidestep. It’s what the rules forgot to make room for. I’m not supposed to be clever, but… maybe I am. Sometimes. A little.

Also: I made new friendship bracelets! (Okay, okay—NOTED: 2 left to go. For Ward and Wallace. I’ll use the green bead for Ward. He reminds me of trees that grow up through pavement. And for Wallace? Purple. Not because it’s royal, but because it hides bruises and brilliance.)

One more thing. A quiet thing.

Every time they get back from a mission, I scan for everyone’s vitals. Not because I have to. Just… because I want to make sure they’re still here.
