Uprising by the People's Front for National Liberation
Revolution
The People's Front for National Liberation declares themselves the victors of the 1994 elections, as the votes that were counted put them ahead of the Liberal party by at least 9% and most votes that weren't counted were areas that were expected to favor the PFNL.
The PFNL secretly approached the Liberal party for support in the coup but the Liberals repudiated the idea and cast their support for the transition government.
The PFNL declared themselves the legitimate government of Mexico and rose against the transition government to reestablish democracy through a communist government.
The PFNL is integrated by rebels from Oaxaca, Michoacan, Tabasco, Veracruz, Chiapas and the Yucatan peninsula.
