Looking for a decisive victory the PFNL sieges the Mexican capital and after a week of fighting they finally take it. Regardless the Junta refuses to surrender and facing increased defiance the PFNL is forced to abandon the capital and regroup in Puebla.   The inability of the PFNL to continue pushing north and their retreat marks a turning point in the war.
