Invasion of Chad

The invasion of Chad was a military conflict between the State of Chad, supported by a French led coalition against the Central African Nation, an anarchist cell that seized power in Chad after the fall of the former autocratic government which lasted from 2003 to 2007.

Background

Since the Singularity Chad saw an increase in social unrest from meta humans joining the paramilitary Muslim Alliance. In 1997 the Chadian government had lost too much ground and was exiled to Cameroon, where they requested foreign aid from American and French troops to restore order into the country. Besides the government forces the Confederation of African States or CAN, a Pan African anarchist group in Northern Chad had taken to fight the MA with Libyan support.   The coalition was next to useless, as Chad was too distant from allied positions to receive for them to offer any support. The CAN started growing in strength as the MA had garnered a negative image from their revolts in Sudan and Nigeria, which pushed people into supporting the CAN and the CAN received support from Egypt, Libya and Ethiopia to contain the MA.   The CAN defeated the MA in 2002 and seized power in Chad, which sparked a flurry of support in its neighbors, threatened with social unrest and by the MA. After the defeat of the MA many meta humans from all around Africa, and some from the west flocked to the CAN and vastly increased it strength. The CAN declared itself the rightful government of Chad, Niger and Libya, and most controversially South Sudan and Sudan, and invited its neighbors to join as to unite their forces against their enemies.   The CAN reneged agreements and debts made by the Chadian government before its creation and ordered the coalition forces to withdraw from its territory.   The coalition, fearing for the CAN to expand beyond the Central African Republic towards Congo decided to support the former Chadian government and in 2004, after the CAN carried out a series of arrests against the French aligned Chadian government inside Cameroon a coalition was called by France to invade the CAN territories and restore order to the region.

History

The problem of perception

Initially the allied powers had a fair amount of support for the war, as the CAN was seen as a rogue government not that different from the MA before them. Thanks to this perception of righteousness the allied powers convinced many meta human to volunteer to be deployed or to contribute propaganda for the war. This backfired, as the volunteering meta humans oft turned into high profile critics of the war, usually expressing regret to have participated.   As the war progressed the meta human community started boycotting the war, which severely hampered the allied effort and led to their ultimate defeat in 2011.
