Gang 21

Barrio 21 or Gang 21, was a criminal group active in Netzahualcoyotl from 2008 to 2015, originally a gang dedicated to dealing drugs at street level, primarily distributing marijuana. During the “Panic” this gang came under the protection of the Metro Family, a larger organization with contacts outside of the city, which allowed them to extend their territory and operations to include supplying meta humans to the competing gangs both inside and outside of the city.   The gang claimed to operate independently and tried to separate itself from their patrons in both the Metro Family and the Seven Circles, which resulted in them losing their protection and then being devoured by local gangs and vigilantes in Netzahualcoyotl.   By 2014 the gang had been crippled from frequents bouts against their local rivals as well as raids against their business sponsors; in 2015 the gang was officially disbanded after a raid by the Defeñsores where their leadership was captured and over fifty million dollars of illegal goods were seized.   This raid and the months leading to it were depicted in 'Xopan cuicatl'
