MagiTek
"Gods, this blows. Why did we sign up for this?" Reginald asked. He riveted an aero-steel plate into the side of the under construction airship, and walked over to a neat stack of plates to grab another.Magi-tek (alternatively spelled Magitek) is a cross-continental Khaganate based technology company. It develops, maintains, and produces magitechnology, magical artifacts, and arcane infrastructure. It's best known as the pioneer of modern airship technology, Psyke-Crystal electricity, and the teleportation circle.
"You know the wage an' benefits beat any of the other guilds out here. Gold Front don't exactly got anything better" Peter responded. Peter was inscribing runes on the inside of the plates with a RuneTorch, trying his best to trace the neatly labeled guide his supervisor had printed for him.
"Yeah, guess your right on that. But don't it kill you to work for a bunch of orks this far out east? Moved out here to get away from the damn companies"
"Hey, if it pays it pays. I don't like them Ork Guilds as much as the next self-respecting Freylian, but its not like they got anything else for someone like me out here. An' I 'ent workin on some fey-fiber farm 30 miles outta' town."
As soon as they say this, a finely fressed and clipboard wielding Ork walks by. The two freeze, straightening their backs and giving him their full attention. The Ork inspects the craftsmanship and giving them the thumbs-up before wandering off to inspect another airship.
"En'tr above I hate this so much."
Magitek was founded in 150 BB(7E450) by Indila de Jiran and Luna au Refka, determined to create a technology that would allow them to transfer arcane energy over long distances. After 3 years of testing, Indila and Luna unveiled their first mana-powered lightbulb onto the world and received international acclaim. Soon after MagiTek hired on workers and mages to spread the invention across its first test city.
Magitek branches can be found in nearly every major city on both the continent of Nevarine and the Ork Peninsula, and they employ millions of people. Jobs range from airship, electrical and arcane engineering to administrative tasks. They employ mainly labor and construction, but a fair amount of mage and artificer jobs are generated yearly by the corporation. They even hire freelance adventurers for "acquisitions", although many accuse Magitek of hiring adventurers as muscle to quell union and protest activity.
Magitek has a long history of accusations of mistreating their laborers and miners and has been known to quell unions by force if necessary. Stories of accidental arcane explosions and mine collapses come quickly after upticks in union activity.
Although the company is considered the forefront manufacturer and job-creator globally, it is slowly being dethroned by its adversary, the trading conglomerate ESTC. These two companies vie for economic dominance, and even the most seasoned of economists can't tell which way the dice will fall in this industrial war.
Structure
Magitek is run, at the multi-national level, by a board of directors, 14 in total. The board is led by an appointed COB (Chair of the Board) who can veto decisions made by the board and can give company-wide directives which can be in turn vetoed by the board with a 2/3rd majority.
Directly under the board are regional officers. Each regional officer runs a provincial or tribal branch and oversees the operations of their region with a full staff of administration appointed by either the board or the Regional Director.
Under the regional officers are the individual city or town branches, which have a local board, officer and administration which follow the rules set by the higher rungs of administration and are allowed to set their own policies on certain issues.
From the COB to the employee, the chain of command is as follows:
- COB
- Board
- Regional Officer
- Regional Administrator
- Local Branch Officer
- Local Branch Board
- Local Branch Administration
- Supervisor
- Employee
Public Agenda
The outward agenda of the company is to improve its profits while also increasing the technological development of the world through its endeavors. This manifests itself in public HR rallies, hiring efforts, and conventions where they release new products and new technologies.
The company states that its mission is to "Embody the spirit of innovation it's founders pioneered by creating technology and economic development that spurs progress forward."

Founding
Longtime friends Indila de Jiran and Luna au Refka, seeking to capitalize on the public interest in "Arcane Technologies" sought to create a business that could create such mystical tech. They started by mining the previously dangerous and ineffective Psyke Crystals and then crushing them, using ink mixed with this powder to create a precursor to modern rune-ink. They used this technology to create everything from the first mechanical prosthetics to bulletproof armor. Luna and Jiran had single-handedly created an entirely new untapped market that they had a monopoly over and had given the world inventions that were seen as mere speculative fiction before. But for Jiran, this wasn't enough. Jiran had wanted to use his money and power to do something extraordinary, something unheard of. After seeing a lightning mage electrify a rod for alchemy, he realized what he would invent. He wanted to make lightning travel, in the sense of powering great machines and modern conveniences. Jiran and Luna worked day and night for 3 years, studying everything from previous attempts at this "traveling lightning", principles that had been discovered by mages, how lightning mages directed their lightning, etc. In the end, they found a design that resembled the previous "acid battery" design attempts. The original design involved a copper rod being dipped into a pool of liquid which was a mixture of 1 part saltwater and 3 part Psyke Crystal Condensate. After replicating the design on a larger scale, they performed a few tests, with Luna being quoted as saying in her memoir Progress; A story of two inventors:When Jiran plugged in that last wire, and the whole assembly lit up with that distinct purple hue, it was like Jiran witnessed the miracle of life. He stood there for a second, that goofy smile, and turned to me and said 'Luna, we just made history'Subsequent demonstrations of the electricity, however, made it clear the public didn't have an interest in the simple setup and needed something to make clear the practical use of their invention. Luna suggested famously that they build an "electric torch" after discovering the incandescence of certain materials when electricity is run through them. This idea proved to be revolutionary, as the public quickly took hold of the idea of the electric torch, and after aristocrats and tribal leaders installed electric torches and batteries in their homes the public quickly wanted it installed across the country. Magitek setup the test city of Sei-to, after which they began to install it in cities from the Khaganate to Freymoor. Soon, however, Magitek would be needed for efforts that were less production and commerce and more militaristic.
Great War
At the beginning of the great war, Luna transferred full ownership to Jiran, with the public explanation that she "wished to retire with her family up north". This was subsequently followed by Jiran taking on numerous governmental contracts to create weapons and armor for the Khaganate army. This resulted in the creation of the first rudimentary Mana-Mechs. Magitek provided its services to the Khaganate for nearly 20 years until the newly elected board of directors decided to cut themselves from governmental contracts and take a neutral stance in the war. Many in the Khaganate government and many of the employees disagreed with this move, jumping ship to the Khaganate militaries R&D division. In the end, however, this let Magitek by the end of the war change its image from a purely Ork company to a "global" company. By the end of the war, the company was mostly producing medicine and supplies for refugees and trying to maintain a stable ship while the rest of the world fell under the spell of war.Post-War Boom
Politics post-war made inter-national economic activity extremely difficult, with Magitek taking one of the largest hits out of any of the guilds. However, Magitek managed to find a loophole by moving their shipments and trade through the recently established Drow Confederacy. This loophole meant that Magitek, unlike other Freymoorian and Khaganate guilds and businesses (E.S.T.C being an exception) truly began to boom and take over the public consciousness. 5 years after the war, Magitek began to diversify its R&D branches, and began to invest in public transportation methods to capitalize on the growing complexity of cities like Vision and Seito. This resulted in the invention of the Airship and the Teleportation Circle and the proliferation of such technology furthered the already monopolistic stranglehold Magitek had on public services.Your future today.
