Djinn

This article exists in the context of the Astral Era, after Sphaeran civilization's ascendancy to the interstellar level. Before approximately 3000 SR, Sphaeran civilization would not have known this information.
Djinni (singular djinn) are formless, cloudlike entities from a jovian world in the Kishhu-23 system. They are anarcho-synchronous communities of microscopic airborne organisms that, when in swarm form, produce an emergent sapience on par with that of harpies. Working together, djinnites (djinn component organisms) can solve complex logic puzzles and physically move objects as much as ten times their collective mass. Djinni can also use magus, and are frequently measured as more powerful mages than any other known sophont species.   Djinni achieved spaceflight roughly one million years prior to the the Collapse, and have integrated into galactic society with relative ease. Artificial djinni also exist (akin to golems), and are often distinguishable from organic djinni by their colorful glow.
