The Refugee Holds
The refugee holds are a part of the ship that has been converted to provide temporary housing for refugees rescued from doomed colonies and slave holdings. The refugees are all treated as civilians, and come from a wide range of species and professions. There are families, individuals, and in some cases pocket communities have formed around specific cultural identity.
The refugees have a de facto leader in Hayashi Jurobei. JUrobei was once a merchant dealing in rare astral gemstones, but he lost his entire fortune and family in the war. He helps other refugees find work and purpose aboard the ship, even as he battles his own despair.
