Danielle Mersella

Danielle Mersella is a Sinnarian from the Demon World of Flore Lunae, noted for having served Zero Blackheart during the time of the Tatara Wars. She served as part of the Demonic Arms as Zero's assistant until the time of her betrayal towards the start of the Dusk Wars. Following the betrayal it is stated that she alone took out Reise Blackheart, Sato Koruga, and Kuro Meisune- the trio of whom had intentions of succeeding Zero Blackheart following his death. How she accomplished this is unknown as very few actually know of her triumph.   She was raised first as a child assassin within the criminal syndicate "The Sunnycide Cartel" under Virgil Gorgon before later being sold to Zero where she was turned into the third product of the J-Zombie Project. At the age of 12 it is said she had more kills under her belt than a normal soldier from a war era. This was in part due to the nature of Flore Lunae prior to the Demon Uprising that transpired decades after her birth. Her modifications by Zero turned her into a super weapon later able to kill even more; though she made seldom use of these powers.   Her activity in recent times is unknown aside from her being confined to Flore Lunae. It has been showcased that she has lost all of the modified abilities and powers granted to her by Zero, as well as the fact that her physical appearance has drastically changed as a result.  

Appearance

Danielle currently is a girl of average height and weight for her age. A blue right eye and a redish pink left, orange hair of shortish mid-length. Her attire consists of a red and gray jester vest, white and red pair of shorts, gray and white stockings, black boots, gray and white sleeves, black and white gloves. She sometimes wears a red overcoat with no shoulders, a conductor's coat really as it ties back to her family.   The number 2 is engraved into the right side of her gut, a remnant of her time as a young slave girl before becoming an assassin.  

Personality

Danielle is described as cold and a shutoff, even by her allies. What trauma she has had to endure internally after her time as an assassin for Virgil and an aid to Zero can only be guessed, as well as the betrayals of both. It is worth noting as well that while she has the body of a young teen yet again, she has several decades of hardship under her belt already. While in the past she may have been more warm and bubbly, she now is more machine-like going through the motions. Dani harbors great sadness and in some instances great race.   The girl is calculating and sneaky just the same due to her time under both masters. She is always eager to observe before making a move, even when it is approaching a random shopkeep for basic conversation and bartering.  

Abilities

As of right now Danielle has no power to speak of. All abilities she had learned during her time with Zero Blackheart have been lost, along with the body modifications made. As her body, mind, and soul continue to heal from the battle against Reise and her allies, her powers could return though this is as of now unknown.  

History

Flore Lunae

Danielle was born nearly a decade after the fall of the Home Lands. Born a pure Sinnarian within Flore Lunae, she grew up as a third class citizen and by the time she was three, as an orphan. It is said that she was orphaned during the time of the Great Rebellion which saw the lower class races of Flore Lunae rise against the ruling powers. After living in the streets with her elder brother, the two sold themselves into slavery to get by fearing starvation due to famine.    By age 5 she was part of the Semanter's Guild and was already being trained as a Child Assassin. Her work would be as simple as posing as a crying child and stabbing the chosen target who got near her. In other instances she would be smuggled into the territory of unsuspecting rivals of the guild and ordered to plant explosives, to shoot up, and to stab said targets. By age 7 Danielle was well accustomed to this way of life with a body count that could not be count on the digits of her body.   At age 8 her world was flipped yet again, with her guild and owner being wiped out in retaliation for an attack made on the Sunnycide Cartel. A new Lieutenant of the cartel, Virgil Gorgon, was quickly making a name for himself by turning the Cartel into a well known and ruthless syndicate. During this counter attack on the Semanter's Guild the two would come into contact. Seeing potential in a girl who had shot three of his men and killed two, he decided to take Danielle under his wing.   With interest in her due to her blood as a Sinnarian and her apparent potential as an assassin, he saw a future with Danielle as one of his top commanders. She would be trained in stealth and martial arts, be fed and given her own room and bed, and overall treated substantially better than most despite Gorgon's reputation. And in no time at all the girl would rise through the ranks, becoming an ace assassin for Virgil willing and able to take out any enemy. By age 11 she would begin to learn techniques like Sonido and Water Elemental Magic.   By age 12 she became capable of assassinating A-Class opponents, bordering on unsuspecting S-Class; though her combat skills alone placed her far beneath either rank. During this time she also met with her brother, Gabriel, who had disappeared after the fall of the Semanter. All was going well for the girl until she was tasked with assassinating Bjorn Gorvachov of the Demonic Arms. In a raid that ultimately failed, a botched operation manipulated by the DA leader himself- Zero Blackheart.  

The Demonic Arms

The Sunnycide Cartel aimed to deal a blow to the Demonic Arms during the era of the Dark Council. Through this they aimed at Bjorn Gorvachov, a member of the DA's council. To accomplish this the Cartel made use of a turncoat within the DA's ranks, using this turncoat for information and to prepare the hit on Gorvachov. Unknown to them however- Zero Blackheart had learned of this turn coat. Using the power of his God Eye- Zero had taken control of the turncoat and manipulated the information to his advantage.   With this, Zero let the reprogrammed agent lead the assassination team into a trap which led to all of them facing the master of the Demonic Arms himself. She was quickly defeated by the Fallen Angel, her team wiped out. Zero, having seen the potential of this child assassin for himself and knowing of her reputation, sought to take her from the Cartel and add her to his own ranks as a replacement for his previous aid Reise Blackheart. The arrangement had been simple, using her as a bartering chip to 'forgive' the cartel for its attack. Upon obtaining ownership, Zero offered her the chance to become strong, to become someone more than that of a lowly cartel hitman.   The offer to do good and change the world, an offer which she quickly accepted.   Over the next few months the girl was trained in the use of magic and prepared to be used as a subject of the J-Zombie Project. As a subject of the project, Danielle would be experimented on and infused with different properties in order to become a Super Soldier. With genetcs mapped to her from different warriors, including Zero's own genetics, her power began to grow rapidly. And then it was with a few more procedures that she would come to wield the same powers as Zero himself and her predecessor Reise, namely the God Eye itself.   Danielle would spend the lasting months of the Dark Council era learning from her new master, later aiding him during the time of the Tatara Clan. Though she craved the world of ideals spoken of by Zero, she did not fully agree with the methods he made use of. Still she went along with such actions even if they went against her very being, believing that as a slave she held no choice. As well as this, she had hopes of asking the DA to aid in rebuilding the Demon World of Flore Lunae.   By the time she was 28 she was perhaps one of the toughest agents of the Demonic Arms, having been through both Tatara Wars and on the edge of the Dusk Wars. She had survived numerous encounters with the New Genesis Alliance and the United Dimension Federation. Despite this though, her place with the DA would not last for much longer. Through the years Zero's madness had steadily grown until sometime after the Dusk Wars a botched operation came about. Zero, cornered like a rat and unwilling to let his ideals for a perfect world die, betrayed and near-fatally injured Danielle to use her as a diversion for his own escape.  

Betrayal and Revenge

Betrayed by her master and left for dead, trapped and surrounded by enemies, she very nearly gave in; though in the chaos of it all she was able to use her own God Eye to escape the conflict at the very last moments. Following the betrayal she would spend six months recovering before returning to Flore Lunae in search of a new life. There she would take part in the Demon Uprising, fighting the rebels where able, growing her powers once more. She knew that by the rebellion's end her only goal would be to take Zero's life and end the Demonic Arms, seeing the likes of the Tatara and the uprising as a product of his madness.   Much of the Revolution she spent searching for Zero so that she could kill him, during which time she managed to destroy the sentient Sparcia realm of which one of the God Eye abilities was named after. This was in part done due to gained powers through a contract made with the reaper clan GEZVUKQ. In exchange for all of her powers and her life, she would be awarded with great power to defeat her enemies. This gave her access to the Hanteigan, the Judgment Eye.   isfortune would befall though as by the Rebellion's end she would learn that Zero had been slain by the New Genesis agent Soul Ripper. However she would learn of Reise Blackheart's survival as well as Kuro Meisune & Sato Koruga, who had served as Zero's guards since the time of the Warring States. Using her new powers she confronted the trio, 3v1. Sato escaped fatally wounded and confirmed dead later by NGA Scouts, Kuro assumed destroyed as her body was burned away, while Reise's fate was left unresolved. Upon fatally wounding Reise, Danielle's time ran out as her contract was fulfilled- resulting in Danielle being teleported from battle to the Reapers to be claimed.   While she was expecting her life to be claimed, this would not happen. Due to Zero having already died the contract was only partially fulfilled with Reise's death. As such, Danielle was stripped of all of her powers- including the modifications made to her by Zero. This would revert her to the age at which she was modified, 12; though due to the damage done by her use of the Reaper Powers she was sent backwards further by the Reapers, back to 4-5 so that her body would have time to heal proper. From there she was returned to Flore Lunae where she once more became a street rat.    

Post-Zero

For the next 7 years Danielle's body would restructure and rebuild itself, her powers still dormant, those given to her by Zero lost. Despite this she would find allies in the form of Almec- a former Demonic Arms member who had left the order following the Terminator Wars. With Almec and her new friends, the group would work to take on bounties and other missions to earn a living. They would all be frequently on the move as to not attract any unnecessary enemies.   Fast forward to 45 A.H. at Club Gatto, where Danielle and her crew attempted to barter for escape from Flore Lunae. Here she had the misfortune of running into Virgil Gorgon, the now-leader of the whole of the Sunnycide Cartel. Eager to reclaim his prize, Virgil attacked Danielle and threatened the lives of her friends. This is when Alexander Blackheart cut in, stopping Virgil, and orchestrating a deal for Danielle's release.  

Character Facts

Danielle is currently portrayed by Alexander Stormsong (@FrostedSapphire). The character was created in 2016 by Zero Dantez, a member of Mugen no Monogatari, now no longer involved with the project. In recent years Alexander has taken claim of the abandoned character and dramatically reworked her lore and story.   She is a main character in the Veil of the Lost spin off.
