The Azaments
The Azaments were a people of extraordinary technological advancement who were capable of creating weapons that could kill even gods. At the height of their power, they controlled the entire continent of Wardenfall and were looking to make advances on others, but on the cusp of invading another continent were stopped by a machine they built that was turned against them by one of their own, leading to a massive war across Wardenfall that destroyed much of the land. The ruins of their civilization are scattered across Wardenfall, and are archeological sites of great potential. However, most of these sites have not been discovered, forgotten to time and searches for them always end in failure.
The sites are protected by illusions and hidden in the deep wilderness. One site, however, was discovered after a long quest by Amairgan to find the knowledge on how to bind Erawan. The Azaments left many of their weapons and designs behind, and those designs are today used in Sunder’s Forge in order to create replicas. The center of that sight, though, was not explored by Amairgan because he had already found what he needed, and so left without going deeper. Much magical knowledge can be found among these ruins, and spellcasters can feel the raw energy radiating from the sites in which the Azaments forged their weapons. The Azaments were a people of order and symmetry, their cities are designed to look exactly alike to another of its size and many of the buildings are indistinguishable from each other. Creatures with a chaotic alignment feel a sense of unease at the perfectness of the sites, and have disadvantage on checks made to interact with artifacts from the civilization. The sites of the cities have the alignment changing property of the plane of Mechanus, turning people affected by it towards being lawful. It is caused by the many portals to the plane of Mechanus that used to be open in these cities, where they would do trade and research on the great gears for their own purposes.
