Dwarves

Dwarves are known for their sturdy and resilient physique, with dense bones and compact muscular builds. Their strength and endurance are unmatched by most other humanoid species, making them formidable warriors and laborers. They also have an exceptional sense of spatial awareness, which allows them to navigate complex underground tunnel systems with ease.   Their affinity for earth and fire magic allows them to shape and manipulate earth and stone, creating intricate tunnels and caverns within the mountains they call home. This ability also grants them the power to forge some of the strongest and most durable metals in the world. In ancient times, the dwarves were renowned for their mastery of metallurgy, producing weapons and armor that were almost indestructible. However, much of their knowledge in this field has been lost over time, and the few remaining skilled dwarf smiths keep their techniques a closely guarded secret.   Dwarves are a proud and traditional people, with strong family ties and a deep respect for their ancestors. They have a complex social hierarchy, with rulership often passed down within a family line. They are also known for their love of gold and precious gems, which they mine from deep within the earth.   Although they may appear gruff and unapproachable to outsiders, dwarves are fiercely loyal to their friends and allies. They have a deep sense of honor and duty, and will stop at nothing to protect their homeland and those they hold dear. Despite their insular nature, they have been known to form alliances and trade relationships with other races, particularly humans and gnomes.   Recently, scholars have uncovered evidence that the ancient Dwarven smiths had access to a unique form of magic that has not been seen anywhere else in the world - Runesmithing. This form of magic allowed the smiths to imbue special symbols into swords and armor, granting them powerful magical properties. While all of these ancient artifacts have been lost to time, human scholars are working alongside skilled Dwarven smiths in an effort to revive this long-forgotten magic.
