Ōnimei
You have accepted the curse-bound mask of an Oni, a volatile relic forged in ancient battles between spirit realms. It offers power drawn from destructive magic and glimpses of otherworldly fate. But every time you call upon it, your soul slips closer to being devoured.
Each level of this subclass enhances your magical potency while increasing your Loss of Self, a supernatural berserk state that builds as your mask grows from a half-face charm into a full, soul-consuming visage. If you die while fully lost, the mask consumes your soul, animating your corpse as a hostile husk.

(1st Level)
Mask-Bound Fury
You begin attuned to an Oni Mask, a cursed artifact that grants raw magical power but chips away at your control. While wearing the mask:
- You gain +2 to spell attack rolls and +1 bonus damage per spell level for spells that deal damage.
- When you cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you must roll a Loss of Self die, a d6. On a 6, you lose control and enter a Frenzy until the end of your next turn (details below).
- Your mask counts as your Adorcist Source. Removing it removes your ability to cast spells via this class.
Frenzy: Loss of Self
While Frenzied:
- You must use your movement to approach the nearest creature (enemy or ally).
- You must use your action to cast a damaging spell or make a melee weapon attack if no spell is prepared.
- You cannot distinguish friend from foe, but always target whoever is closest.
This effect ends early if you are incapacitated, stunned, or knocked unconscious.

Half-Mask Awakening
The mask currently covers only your mouth and nose, but pulses when danger nears. You gain:
- Darkvision 60 ft (or +30 ft if you already have it).
- You can cast detect magic at will.
- You learn the chaos bolt spell and absorb elements; these do not count against your known spells.
(5th Level)
Oni Clarity
Your visions sharpen. You may now:
- Reroll one Loss of Self die per long rest.
- When you enter a Frenzy, you may instead gain one glimpse of the future: cast see invisibility, detect thoughts, or augury as part of that same action, without a casting roll.

Mask Awakening
Your mask grows to cover your full lower face and jaw. The eyes begin to shift colors when you're angry or afraid.
(10th Level)
Surge of Havoc
When you roll a Surge from your Source Well or Frenzy effect, choose two options from the Surge Table and apply both. You may do this once per long rest.
Additionally, you can now:
- Spend 4 Source Well dice to enter Frenzy willingly without a Loss of Self roll.
- During Frenzy, your spell save DC increases by 2.

Mask Awakening
The mask now covers your full face and grows small horn nubs. Your voice echoes faintly when you speak while it’s on.
(15th Level)
Full Transformation
You and the mask become one. While Frenzied:
- You gain resistance to all damage except force and radiant.
- You may cast one spell per turn as a bonus action, as long as it's a damaging spell or divination/conjuration.
- You can cast disintegrate or true seeing once per long rest without rolling.
If you die while Frenzied, your mask devours your soul:
- Your body rises 1d4 rounds later as a hostile Oni Revenant under the DM’s control. It is drawn to conflict and attacks the nearest creatures until destroyed.
- Your soul is trapped unless true resurrection or an equivalent spell is used.

Mask Awakening
The mask now fuses to your skin, its horns full-grown, and your reflection sometimes appears wrong.
Ōnimei Surge Table (d12)
Roll when triggered by Frenzy, a Source Well event, or a major emotional moment.

6 | You can use Counterspell as a reaction (no spell roll). |
7 | All enemies within 10 ft must make a CON save or be blinded until your next turn. |
8 | Next spell you cast deals force damage instead and cannot be countered. |
9 | Your body crackles with Oni rage. All spells gain +1 damage die for 1 round. |
10 | A brief whisper reveals a secret. Ask the DM one yes/no question about the current area, combat, or plot. |
11 | The mask glows red-hot. One enemy takes fire damage = 2 × your Adorcist level. |
12 | No surge. Instead, you regain 1 Source Well die. |
