Karsus's avatar was a very powerful spell which altered the very disposition of reality. The greater details of how it worked were unknown. The user of this spell could attain the ability to bend reality itself to their whim. The caster of this ritual must speak the true name of a Deity at the completion of the ritual. Upon speaking the Deity's true name, the user binds their divine power and abilities to their whim, effectively switching places with said Deity. This power only lasts for but a few hours, before the Universe cosmically corrects itself and returns both beings to their natural state.   The cost of casting this spell has a heavy toll on both the Deity and the caster. Only one recorded occurrences of the Spell's completion have been recorded. The only by the spells creator, by the wizard Karsus himself causing the only recorded death of a true deity (C'tan), nearly shattering the fabric of reality of Wild Space in its wake, and causing reality to petrify completely and collapse inward into the caster. (Sharing the quality similar with a Maker Dragon)   Upon completion of the spell, the last sound heard for a time is the name of the chosen Deity. The spell is so immensely powerful that all nature halts at its casting. Birds, plants, bugs, animals all stop and wait, as if all of reality holds its breath, waiting and watching.   The spell is so incredibly complex that it requires several powerful components just to ready the ritual. Once the items have been prepared, the caster must begin the six-hour long ritual to complete the spell.   The Wizard Karsus first created the spell after spending nearly fifty years researching its means. Karsus had access to an endless array of tools and reagents that he was able to cast the spell himself. The results were catastrophic, Karsus attempted to overtake the C'tan which held the Magi throne hostage, and upon doing so he immediately killed her. With Mystra's death, the Winds of Magic simply stopped flowing. The Silver Tower went dormant, and the Veil of magic collapsed.   Reality began to petrify, staring from the point of Karsus corpse. While the remaining C'tans of the Forgotten Realms attempted to slow this, all realms were eventually petrified.   Without the magic, the floating cities of Karsus homeland 'Netheril' could not hold their positions in the skies, and most of them crashed to the ground. The archmage Karsus died when the link to Mystryl was cut and his body was petrified. In the last moments of life, his stony eyes, still shimmering with the last glint of godly omniscience, caught a glimpse of the cities of Netheril smashing to the ground, killing all. His heart broke—greed for the power of the deities themselves had caused the destruction of his home, his family, his friends, and his people.   He watched the world become petrified, and eventually upon the full complete petrification of the forgotten realms, awoke within within the arms of the Magi Eimi whom saved him, and then proceedingly merged itself completely with him and binded all the forgotten realms within Karsus form with one final grand act of its magic.
