The Military Power of Rhelak (rel-ick)
Rhelak operates with figureheads Empress Viriya and Emperor Rivolante, but is actually controlled by the Empress’ brother, Archduke Adephon, the nation’s military leader, making it a stratocracy. This makes Rhelak a formidable militaristic force in peaceful times, leaving many outsiders to question the Archduke’s intentions, especially since the nation’s military headquarters is in mountainous and well defended Ostport, while the throne lies across the land in Caedril.
Rhelak is also home to several nomadic Daedalon tribes. While many groups move around the nation, they will converge annually in Wydric, a small town at the base of the Ostlyn Mountains maintained by the only stationary family of Daedalon, led by overly jovial patriarch Sigirmund. The largest nomadic group traverses the Aldhedge Forest and is led by a somewhat xenophobic Daedalon named Skari.

Ostport was established by Ostwyn Rooke, Adephon and Viriya’s ancestor, who also established an alliance with the Vescorus people who lived in the mountains. Adephon’s right-hand commander, Damaris Grimani, is a descendant of one of these Vescorus.

There is a different group of Vescorus who live in the village of Freyden, beyond the mountains. The village is well known for it’s close proximity to several gemstone deposits, and is a small mining community led by a charismatic Vescorus named Tiberius.

Mythology & Lore
Basilio [ bah - sil - ee -oh ] of the Blade and Sylvana [ sil - vahn - ah ] of the Shield were legendary warrior twins. Basilio is symbolized by the color green and the month of Galbin. Sylvana is symbolized by the color red and the month of Eryth. Both are the patron heroes of Rhelak, where they were supposedly born.
Blossoming Alois [ ah - loy ] and Wilting Valdis [ vall - dis ] of Rhelak were star-crossed lovers who supposedly would meet in Pryland Forest of Rhelak. Alois is symbolized by indigo, the month Rellen, and flowers - in particular a purple flower known as Galeois, or ‘Alois’ Helmet’ that blooms during Rellen. Valdis is symbolized by brown, the month of Ostrinne, and willow leaves - under which Galeois can commonly be found.
