Sieo of Qalid

Sieo of Qalid, originally Sieo Iotta or Sieo of Vatid, was a wastelander, an inhabitant of one of the islands of the Askriish archipelago, and a renowned priestess of the Ennead, having started to worship the Goddess Qalid after being rescued and freed from Baastian captivity and slavery. Sieo was born to Caeciginus, a soldier, and Petrichor, his wife, in the island of Vatid. During the Baastian Invasion of Vatid, her father lost his life in battle, and her mother was raped and killed in front of her and her siblings, who were then forced into slavery by the Lameerian invaders.   While Sieo was sold as a house slave and bought by Dramir, a very rich Baastian merchant, her younger brother, Adonis, became a field slave. She did not know what happened to her older sister, Morrigan, as she was sold to another slave owner. Dramir was a distant man, and seldom interacted with his slaves, but his servants had a habit of being cruel with Sieo and her brother for the "fun" of it. Sieo, being a house slave, did her best to learn the Baastian tongue, and was soon able to talk with Dramir, who would listen to her regularly because of the advice she was able to give.   Although this gave her an advantage and improved her standing in the house, Sieo was still hated by Dramir's servants, who vied for the attention she received. While she was a house slave, the freedom she earned by her relationship with Dramir allowed her to visit her brother in the field. At some point, Adonis fell ill, and though Sieo tried to treat him, she only managed to get herself infected before her brother succumbed to the disease. Dramir, who couldn't bear to lose the best slave he ever had, brought the best physicians he could pay in order to try and stave off the disease that was ailing Sieo, but to no avail.   The disease was relentless, and was pretty well known by that point, leading to death on a great percentage of cases. One of the physicians, Episcopus, a well renowned askriish man, recommended to Dramir that Sieo be sent to the temple of Qalid, the Goddess of Cure and Disease, as that was his only and last chance if he wished to see Sieo live. Dramir accepted, and took Sieo to the neighboring Island of Qalid, where he met the priestess responsible for the temple, Anodyne. The priestess said it was possible to cure Sieo, but her Goddess was surely going to request something dear to Dramir as payment for her favor.    In the following months, Sieo not only managed to survive the disease, but made a miraculous and complete recover, without showing any of the sequelae the other physicians had warned about. With the notice of Sieo's recovery, Dramir came back to Qalid to collect his slave, where Anodyne invited him to stay for the ritual where Qalid, the goddess, would tell him what the price was for the curing of Sieo. During this ritual, Anodyne, while possessed by Qalid, pointed only towards Sieo, indicating she wished the woman to remain in the island as payment for her healing.   Dramir, not willing to accept that he would lose Sieo, tried to challenge the embodied goddess, who talked to privately with him for a few minutes, and the man hurriedly left the temple without even looking Sieo's way again. In the following years, Sieo was trained by Anodyne in order to become a priestess of Qalid, instructed in the arts of medicine and the ways of the Ennead religion. After becoming a priestess, Sieo received an unexpected visit from Dramir, who was on the verge of death. Having been trained by Anodyne, she was able to identify and treat the disease, allowing Dramir to live for many more years.
