Darhanny Van Moore was a Craftford Islander, one of the most infamous pirates of her time, the Sea Emperors' Period, and also one of the only female pirates known in Somnium. Although much of her life is unknown, it is known that she was born on Craftford Island and that she lost both of her parents to the Famine that ravaged the island during the year 362 AR. She married very early, at age 13, to a seentriaese sailor, Theodore Van Moore, from whom she got her surname, though it was by no means a happy ending for her. When Theodore wasn't at sea, he was getting drunk, and when he wasn't getting drunk, he was expending money with prostitutes.   In a moment of rage, Darhanny fled to the harbor, where the already famous pirate Nevermore was resupplying one of his ships. Without really thinking about her actions, she asked to board, and Thatcher allowed her. Although most of Nevermore's crew looked down on Darhanny for being a woman, she killed her first man a few nights after boarding - a drunken pirate who tried to abuse her. From that moment on, having been intoxicated with what he felt at that moment, Darhanny dressed like a man so she could be a member of Thatcher's crew. Though Nevermore eventually found out, he not only allowed Darhanny to remain on the crew, but also trained her as his first mate.   Despite her relatively good relation with Thatcher, both had different opinions as to the methods that needed to be employed, and at some unknown point, Darhanny decided to go out on her own. Thatcher didn't stop her. She earned a fearsome reputation, being a woman and leading her own pirate fleet. At some point, she came into contact with Nailla Kaladrix — who introduced herself as Aillan Kaladrix — another female pirate, with whom she reportedly developed a very intimate relationship. Together with Dartangnan "The Ragjack" Rohr, the two became the leaders of one of the largest pirate fleets known to exist. Unfortunately, her reign came to an early end, and she was sentenced to death by the Seentriaese crown.
