Atabey (At-uh-bay)

Earth

Atabey, also known as Earth, is an ancient and mysterious Planet that is home to both Mortals and Fae. The Fae gave the Planet its name, Atabey, in respect of the Ancient Akashan Elders. The name "Earth" for those in Midgard was given by ancient Norse mythology. In Norse mythology, the Earth is known as Jörð or “Earth Mother”, and it was said (in Norse Mortal's stories) that the Gods used Ymir’s bones to make the Planet, which they (during the Viking Era) called Midgard. Midgard literally means “middle-earth” or “middle kingdom” to mortals, reflecting their fact that the Planet was located within Akasha. Midgard is a Realm of the Mortals and is rooted in their reality, stretching the RPG timeline - for Midgard - from February 14th 1842 through til March 11th 2033. Although two separate Realms share the same Planet, each has their own cultural history, traditions, and beliefs that have led to interesting cultural differences between them.   The calendar systems of Tir Na Nog and Midgard differ in several major ways. In Midgard, a year is comprised of 365 days over 12 months, with each month containing either 30 or 31 days. The days in Midgard are 24 hours long, and divided into sixty minutes each. Seven days make up one week, four weeks make one month, and twelve months make up a year. In Tir Na Nog, however, a year is composed of 336 days over 12 months, with each month containing 28 days. The days in Tir Na Nog are also 24 hours long, and divided into twelve hours each. Seven days make up one week, four weeks make one month, and twelve months make up a year. Additionally, the months in Tir Na Nog are named for the various festivals and events that occur throughout the year, while the months in Midgard are traditionally named after Roman gods and numbers. Lastly, Tir Na Nog has many unique cultural celebrations and activities that take place during each month, making it a vibrant realm to explore.   Despite the differences between the calendar systems of Tir Na Nog and Midgard, there are several similarities to be noted. Both Realms have a week that consists of seven days and a year composed of twelve months. Furthermore, both realms have 24-hour days, with Midgard's days being divided into sixty minutes each, and Tir Na Nog's days being divided into twelve hours each. Additionally, the names of the days in both realms - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday – are similar. Ultimately, both realms serve as a great reflection of culture, history, and nature, making them both unique and interesting places to explore.   Atabey is an awe-inspiring Planet, captivating many with its abundance of life and vibrant cultures as well as its unique position in the Milky Way Galaxy. As the third Planet from the Sun, it shines brightly amongst the stars in the night sky while its atmosphere provides protection from other celestial threats. Its orbit around the Sun and the tilt of its axis are both responsible for the cycle of the seasons, providing a diverse and ever-changing climate that supports the creatures inhabiting it. Additionally, Atabey's near perfect circular orbit ensures that its distance from the Sun remains relatively constant, allowing temperatures to flow consistently, despite the changing of the seasons.   Despite the differences in season names and activities, both Realms serve as a great reflection of culture, history, and nature, making them both captivating and unique places to explore. In Midgard, the seasons are spring, summer, autumn, and winter, while in Tir Na Nog, the seasons are Samhain, Imbolc, Beltane, Lugnasadh, Lammas, Mabon, Yule, Ostara, Summer Solstice, Autumnal Equinox, and Winter Solstice. While in Midgard the seasons are traditional, in Tir Na Nog, the names of the seasons are reflective of the different festivities and activities that occur throughout the year, making it a unique Realm to explore. Additionally, Tir Na Nog has many cultural activities and ceremonies that take place during each month and season, Tir Na Nog is filled with many different kinds of experiences, making it an exhilarating place to explore. Despite the differences in season names and activities, both Realms serve as a great reflection of culture, history, and nature, making them both fascinating and unique places to explore.   Its abundance of minerals, soil, and water make it a perfect place for both flora and fauna to flourish and grow. Atabey’s atmosphere acts as a protective shield from harmful radiation, allowing the inhabitants of the Planet to survive and thrive. Its vast oceans contain a multitude of plants and creatures that have adapted to its ever-changing environment over millions of years. Undeniably, Atabey is a remarkable and miraculous planet, providing an ideal habitat for countless species to call home.   The governmental structure in Midgard is similar to the one in Tir Na Nog. This governing body is responsible for making laws, deciding on policies, and ensuring the overall fairness of laws and regulations.   It is a remarkable and miraculous Planet, teeming with life and offering an abundance of resources. Its vibrant atmosphere and near perfect orbit ensures temperatures remain relatively consistent despite changing seasons. Geography

Earth is a planet in the Milky Way galaxy composed of five major landmasses – Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, and Europe – as well as seven smaller continental regions – North America, Central America and the Caribbean, South America, the Arctic, and the Indian Ocean islands. In total, Earth has four oceans – Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, and Arctic – that are all connected to each other. These bodies of water cover an area of 361 million square kilometers, or 70 percent of the planet's surface.

Ecosystem

The environment on Atabey is incredibly diverse and complex, with many interactions between the physical environment and the biological components that make up ecosystems. Biological organisms obtain their energy by consuming other organisms in the food web, while physical elements like temperature, sunlight, and precipitation play important roles in governing the growth and health of species. Additionally, the cycling of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, and water through the atmosphere, biosphere, and hydrosphere are critical for the maintenance of a healthy environment on Atabey.

Ecosystem Cycles

The passing of seasons has a huge impact on the ecosystem of Earth. During the warmer months, animals that hibernate during the winter may emerge in search of food and begin the process of building their nests or dens. Certain species may migrate to different areas due to increased access to food or a better climate for breeding. In the colder months, mammals, birds, and other organisms may go into hibernation or estivation, allowing them to conserve energy and survive the harsh winter. The changing of the seasons also affects the availability of certain food sources, causing some species to hunt for different types of prey or forage in new areas.

Localized Phenomena

here are several distinct phenomena on Atabey that are unique to it. For example, during thunderstorms, the interaction of the ferrous nature of Atabey's surface with lightning can create powerful electrostatic fields that can be felt up to 150 miles away. Additionally, strong winds and low atmospheric pressure can create sandstorms, which are a dangerous and powerful force of nature on Atabey. Other natural occurrences include volcanic eruptions, forest fires, and natural gas emissions, as well as the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights), a phenomenon caused by the interaction of charged particles in the Atabey's atmosphere with solar winds.

Fauna & Flora

Midgard and Tir Na Nog both offer a variety of animal and plant life, although they differ significantly in terms of local ecology and interactions. In Midgard, animals such as pigs, deer, chickens, and goats are farmed for their meat, while the nearby mines produce minerals, gems, and coal. On the other hand, Tir Na Nog's mythical creatures and magical beings, such as unicorns, fairy horses, mermaids, dragons, rompo, alicanto, and more, can also provide valuable resources. In addition, the Realm is home to a wide range of familiar Midgard wild animals, including rabbits, hens, bats, tigers, and others, that can be hunted, fished for, and/or trapped for meat or ingredients.

Natural Resources

Prospectors and inhabitants of Atabey have many advantages to gain from exploring its two Realms: Midgard and Tir Na Nog. The Midgard Realm provides resources that are primarily found in the physical world, like farms producing grains, fruits, and vegetables, as well as various meats from animals like pigs, deer and chickens. The Mines around the Realm contain minerals, gems, and coal. On the other hand, the Tir Na Nog Realm offers a wealth of mythical creatures and magical beings, such as unicorns, fairy horses, mermaids, dragons, and more. It also has its own unique resources, including farms producing grains, fruits, and vegetables, as well as a wide range of meats, fish, and traps. Finally brave adventurers can even hunt for human meat, which is said to have a taste similar to veal, albeit with a higher price. All in all, Atabey provides an abundance of valuable resources for those who wish to prospect, explore, and discover the secrets of its two Realms.

History

The history of Atabey stretches back 4.5 billion years and is filled with many major events that have shaped the Planet and its inhabitants. In the first billion years, Atabey was formed from planetary accretion and developed her core, mantle, and crust. Over the past 3.5 billion years, the continents upon her surface have shifted and human life was said to begin to develop as simple single-celled organisms around 3.8 billion years ago. As life evolved into more complex forms, plants and animals appeared in vast biodiversity. The emergence of humans around 200,000 years ago saw major changes in the environment through the development of agriculture and industrialization. In future centuries, mortal progress had begun being marked by advancements in science, technology, and communication, resulting in the globalized world the creatures of Midgard from February 14th 1842 til March 11th, 2033 on Atabey (through the Midgard RPG) recognized.
