The seven year period during which Solis, the star that Nyria revolves around was plagued by a series of corona mass ejections that stripped the magnetic field of Nyria, brought drought, famine and completely melted the icecaps of the planet.
As a result of the Burn, more than 90% of the population of the planet perished and left those who survived in dire straits.
