Aelius Nikolai Tesla

Aelius Nikolai Tesla stands as one of the most enigmatic and transformative figures of Nyrian history, a man whose name became synonymous with Galvanic Power and whose legacy still hums beneath the modern world. Inspired by principles that blurred the line between science, philosophy, and mysticism, Tesla was neither solely an Engineer nor merely a theorist. By Nyrian standards, he was unmistakably an Alchemist—one who sought not only to harness power, but to understand its hidden nature and moral weight.

From an early age, Tesla demonstrated an uncanny sensitivity to invisible forces. He claimed to feel Galvanic currents before he could measure them, describing them as rhythms, pulses, and harmonics rather than raw energy. This intuitive relationship with power defined his work for the rest of his life. Where others built engines and conduits, Tesla designed systems of flow, believing that Galvanic Power behaved less like fuel and more like a living phenomenon that responded to resonance, balance, and intent.

In Nyrian alchemical circles, Tesla was considered controversial. Traditional Alchemists focused on transmutation, material refinement, and chemical processes, while Tesla insisted that Galvanic Power itself was an alchemical medium—capable of transformation, amplification, and even subtle influence over matter and mind. His writings frequently referred to “invisible lattices” in the air and stone of the world, natural structures through which power could be guided without wires, pipes, or combustion. Many dismissed these ideas as visionary speculation; others quietly built their fortunes upon them.

It was through this philosophy that Tesla Aeronautics was born. Founded jointly with the ambitious industrialist Isaiah Everardus Lurcock, the company sought to revolutionize flight, propulsion, and long-range power transmission. Tesla provided the theoretical brilliance and experimental designs, while Lurcock supplied capital, political connections, and manufacturing reach. Together, they transformed aerial travel from an exotic curiosity into a symbol of modern Nyrian dominance.

Yet the partnership was never an equal one. Tesla viewed Tesla Aeronautics as a means to liberate Galvanic Power from monopolies and make it accessible across borders. Lurcock, by contrast, understood the immense leverage such power granted to those who controlled it. Internal correspondence—what little survives—suggests growing tension between the two men, particularly over proprietary secrecy, military contracts, and the deliberate limitation of certain technologies deemed “too destabilizing” for public release.

Tesla himself was an austere and deeply private man. He maintained rigid personal routines, avoided romantic entanglements, and showed little interest in wealth or status. He was known to give away designs freely, insisting that discovery belonged to the world rather than the individual. This attitude earned him admiration among idealists and suspicion among financiers. He lived simply, often surrounded by notebooks filled with dense diagrams, alchemical symbols, and annotations written in a shorthand no one has fully deciphered.

Tesla’s death remains one of the great unresolved mysteries of modern Nyria. Officially, it was attributed to natural causes following a period of isolation and declining health. Unofficially, few accept this explanation. Conspiracy theories persist that Tesla was preparing to unveil a breakthrough capable of rendering centralized Galvanic infrastructure obsolete—a development that would have upended entire industries overnight. Some claim his final laboratory was cleared within hours of his passing, its contents seized under sealed orders.

At the center of these theories stands Isaiah Everardus Lurcock. While never formally implicated, Lurcock benefited enormously from Tesla’s death, consolidating control over Tesla Aeronautics and quietly shelving several of Tesla’s most radical projects. Whispers circulate that Lurcock acted to “protect the world from chaos,” while darker rumors suggest deliberate silencing. The truth, if it survives at all, lies buried beneath legal decrees, vanished prototypes, and redacted archives.

Today, Aelius Nikolai Tesla is remembered as a genius, a visionary, and a cautionary tale. He reshaped Nyrian civilization through Galvanic Power, redefining flight, industry, and the very definition of Alchemy. Yet his greatest ambition—to see power freely shared and ethically wielded—remains unfulfilled. In the low thrum of engines, the glow of aerial docks, and the unanswered questions surrounding his final days, Tesla’s presence endures, unresolved and quietly galvanic.

“Power is never born in the machine. It is born in understanding. The moment we choose to share that understanding rather than chain it, the world begins to rise.”
— Aelius Nikolai Tesla

He was obviously a great man with an even greater heart. Would surely be cool as a player of your campaign to find out the truth behind it. But that would also take the mystery, so better leave it at that.

Ooo, a mysterious death. I suppose at least he was an old man who had lived a good life.
