What Lies Beneath 4 - Bizarre Bazaar - Tide

 

Objective

Check out the bazaar and try to learn what we can about the necromancers
 
 

Observations

The necromancers have infiltrated the bazaar and are interacting with the merchants. A guard mentioned that necromancers don't make it this far so there is a chance the necros are sending allied individuals who can sneak through whatever the Lord might have in place. The necros and their allies are entering through the south side of the violet lake where there is a tunnel leading further south. The necromancers we encountered are dead but there are almost certainly more in the southern tunnels.
 

Follow up

Any parties interested in facing the necromancers can likely find others south of the violet lake.

Operation Details

We spoke with Sylvern and planned to visit the bazaar looking to find information on the necromancers to possibly assist the lord of the lake in the future. Laef mentioned the last time he was down here saying he had a feeling of being watched and followed while traveling on lizard-back. He could not decern what it was and Sylvern recommended to keep lights around to reveal any creatures lurking. After a brief discussion about a shadow dog that appears and sells items, Sylvern mentioned it is someones pet.
 
 
  We moved to the river in the south, and went west down river on lizard-back for roughly 4 1/2 hours. During that time, we passed some rapids as well as a lake with a floating island and some bio-luminescent mushrooms. We considered scouting the lake area as there is a passage going vertically upwards above the island but decided against it for the time being. In case it isn't known, do not swim down in the water around the island as there is something very large in the water. A short while after that, the river turns into a waterfall that exits to the violet lake. We moved along the wall of this massive cavern east towards the bazaar, paying the toll by dropping gold into the water far below. Once we arrived at the bazaar we left our lizards on the dock area as the guards seemed okay with it.
 
 
  Laef spotted a robed individual entering the south side of the bazaar. However, before we entered, Laef questioned the guard about who protects them from the necromancers. After some miscommunication, the guard pointed into the water and we came to the conclusion that the large crabs which move about under the water may be the protectors. We entered the bazaar and quickly approached the robed figure who invited us to meet with their friends saying they might be interested in new people. The figure had purple colors in their robe as well as a symbol of Shar so we quickly deduced this was likely a trap but decided to follow anyways concluding that this would at least give us some information. The man used a rowboat and we followed on the lizards, coming to a beachhead on the south side of the violet lake.
 
 
  We followed the man into a tunnel and after moving about a quarter mile, we turned towards an outcropping that lead to a room lit up with many types of similar looking fungi. There we encountered another figure who is stood over a workstation making some kind of liquid in a beaker. We realized they were growing different types of poisonous plants and as one of the individuals pours the liquid into an altered dagger, Laef thunderstepped them and a fight ensued. During which, the second figure revealed themselves to be an undead and raised a corpse that was in a sleeping bag nearby. Laef got stabbed by the altered dagger, causing blood to seep out from all over his body and shortly thereafter he was killed. We managed to defeat the enemies and quickly made our way back to camp with Laef's remains.
