Dwarves of Alaron 6: Aftermath

 

Objective

Deliver a counter offer from the Jims to the dwarves
 
 

Observations

-As you get closer to the site where the thing emerged from the rip in space time, nature twists more and more in the following 3 ways:
  1) Under magic seeing eyes, shining motes of magic of all schools, and indeterminate schools float through the air like fireflies.
  2) Trees along with their roots and the earth beneath them float in the air.
  3) Woodland critters have developed mutations. They posses magic and when you try to converse with them, they speak telepathically in garbled and disturbing tones. We encountered a bird with spider eyes, strange flesh deer, and the bird monster from before, now mutated.
  -The caves the dwarves have been using are collapsed and can no longer be used to make contact.
  -The counter offer has been delivered.
 
 
 

Follow up

-With the caves collapsed there is no reason to return to the dwarves through this method. Groups should keep an ear and an eye out for further contact with the dwarves.
  -Zorky seems very keen on exploding another cave that may or may not have collapsed when the dwarves collapsed their tunnels. Some follow up may be needed there.
  -The extent of the damage in the area of "ground zero" as the Jims put it, should be investigated and mapped out. Specimens that have been mutated should be brought back to the camp alive for the Jims to observe.
 

Preparation Details

We assembled 3 of the members from the last mission and completed our previous goal.
 

Operation Details

We began the mission simply by Zorky giving us the counter offer from the Jims. He told us that by bringing the strange 80 foot creature from the rift in space time the day prior, animals around "ground zero" as he called it had strange mutations. We made our way North to the caves.
 
 
  On the way, we encountered a mutated bird with spider eyes that was watching us with intelligence. I tried speaking with it, and it spoke in a strange language inside my head. Gixxy tried capturing it to take it to the Jims and it got away. We also encountered some floating trees. Magic hung heavy in the air and only got more intense as we drew closer to ground zero.
 
 
  On the way we encountered what I can only describe as flesh deer. They liked fire and healed when fire was used against them. We killed them and continued north.
 
 
  We eventually got to ground zero, the mountain side where the bird beast used to be. We found another bird beast there and a new nest. None of us were particularly thrilled by this development. We tried to sneak past it but that failed pretty quickly. We eventually scared it off, although Gixxy got carried by it for quite some distance. I set its nest on fire while we waiting for the dragonborn to return. We continued into the cave.
 
 
  We got lost in the cave. But eventually we found some dwarves who seemed nervous of us. Gixxy convinced them that we were friendly and we delivered the Jim's counter offer to them. They told us to get out of the caves because they were going to blow the caves up.
 
 
  We left as quickly as we could and barely made it out with our lives. I broke my ankle on the way due to falling rocks and had to lean on Gixxy on the way back to camp. We returned rather late.
