Dwarves of Alaron 5 - Alternative Entry

 

Objective

Deliver the counter offer of the Jim's to the Broker of the Dwarven Organization gatekeeping access to the territory.
 
 

Observations

When the Jim's say not to do something, don't do it.
  The door blocking the tunnels and the large avian creature guarding it are no longer an issue.
 

Follow up

Return to the site and attempt to deliver the goods to the Broker assuming the tunnels are intact.
 

Preparation Details

We were granted gifts to carry to the dwarves by the Jims. The contents were sealed. We were also granted an unstable gemstone that was meant to remove the door to the tunnels.
 

Operation Details

We were given two choices by Zorky. Either deal with the creature in the primary tunnel that had killed Tavvok, or deliver some goods to the Dwarven agents through the secret tunnels.
 
 
  We chose to make the delivery and after some preparation, we were sent off to the northern outpost.
 
 
  We traveled West for about an hour before encountering the remains of a crate. It had a dim glow about it. When Teddie approached the crate a bit too closely, a cloaked figure burst from the crate as well as a second one nearby. They projected a blinding light and appeared to be some type of frozen undead creatures. We dealt with them swiftly without too much trouble and continued onwards towards the tunnel entrance.
 
 
  Advancing further, we found ourselves at the cliff just outside the entrance. After a discussion, everyone agreed that scaling the cliff was the best option. A significant amount of time was spent attempting to climb it by a couple of party members which attracted the large avian known to nest at the entrance of the tunnels.
 
 
  After many attempts to distract the bird, it was drawn away from its nest, at which point the unstable crystal was lobbed up onto the cliff, but failed to detonate. In the following attempt to trigger the detonation, the bird was attracted back to the nest and caught in the explosion.
 
 
  The Explosion took several seconds to register anything but a ball of light, but what remained of the bird and door afterwards was a spherical hole where the door used to be and a disturbingly large mass of flesh where the bird used to be.
 
 
  We elected to leave when the mass of flesh began to coalesce into the upper body of a truly gargantuan creature. It ignored us, but simply being in its presence was harmful on the psyche. Ilya and Teddie could not withstand the crushing force and fell during our escape.
 
 
  We returned to the fort at pace and were intercepted by the Jims who seem to have been prepared for such an outcome. They dealt with the problem in some way and recovered the bodies of the fallen who appear to bear large scars they did not possess when they fell.
