Soldiers Erik, Ezra, Lark, Cardan, Valas
Status
Casualties Erik

Objective

Intercept a delivery on the road between Regents Field and Blythe.

Observations

-There is a hostile individual the claims to be in the capital and willing to cause harm to it/it's citizens if they are not acknowledged and appeased.
-Some of the enemy soldiers are very resilient at warding off destruction and will have to be knocked down several times before truly slain.
-Some of the enemy soldiers turn into precious minerals after they are truly slain.

Follow up

-At the very least, make sure all parties exploring the underdark are aware of the possibility of more deliveries to intercept. It may even be beneficial to have a party sent down specifically to find more information on these deliveries as the scope of these weapons power seems intensive and it would be very bad if the enemy is able to properly deliver these weapons.

  • Find out what is up with the enemy turning into precious minerals when they are slain.

  •
  • Find out the scope of power these weapons truly pose and if they can be harnessed for our own means if they are recovered in a useful state.

  •

    Preparation Details

We were given this mission only shortly before heading out for a different objective. The only preparation we got in was discussion a plan for ambushing the cart.

    Operation Details

Trip was uneventful before entering the darkness. Upon entering the darkness, a member of the party observed a cat-like creature that was tracking and moving parallel to the party. It was heavily obscured by the shadows and some of us were not able to see it at all. Worried that it could pose a threat the party tried to draw it out. It was offered dried meats, which it did temporarily consume before spitting it back up. The party tried to communicate with the creature to no success. The creature attacked and was fairly easily dealt with. After dealing with the creature, Valas alerted the party that a historically hostile party communicated with him mentally. This individual implied potential harm towards citizens of Caer Callidyrr. Before any resolution could come to this, we arrived at the point of interception. We heard a large vehicle approaching on the road and all hid in our positions, ready to ambush the transporter. The transporter consisted of a large, reinforced wagon car being pulled by two very large creatures. (Undead Ogres?) There was one smaller creature that appeared to be the most intelligent of the lot riding on top of the wagon, directing orders to the rest of the group. This smaller creature was able to swallow Valas while and Valas was not able to break out of it until the creature was slain. Within the wagon there was a number of undead soldiers manning ranged weapons and shooting out from the safety of the vehicle. The item in question being transported was laid atop the wagon. This item was a very large robotic arm. I would estimate the size to be over well 30ft. long. Combat ensued. When enemy creatures fell, they sometimes got back up with an unforeseen vigor. When they finally fell for good, they disappeared and left behind shiny gemstones. Not all were recovered. Erik went down mid combat and was dragged inside the vehicle. The enemy soldiers inside the vehicle called out in common and requested a ceasefire on our assault of their vehicle in exchange for Erik's body. Shortly after, Ezra was able to hear conversation between the enemy soldiers about how they were going to self-destruct. We broke into the cart shortly after and disposed of the remaining enemies. We tried to cancel their self-destruct sequence but were unsuccessful. We had to hastily flee the cart with Erik's body as quicky as possible. The cart first began to implode upon itself then forcibly explode. I (Lark) fell unconscious in the explosion but was treated with healing agents very quickly after. We were not able to search the site of the explosion in any great detail after the fact as the explosion was very load and we were worried about more enemies coming to investigate. We left and returned to the camp. Cardan intercepted a message in the middle of the fray. I did not read the message myself as it turned to ash upon him reading it but he described the message as some form of communication between the sender and intended recipient of the weapon we were sent to intercept. It was noted that they mentioned something about a plan for sub terranean delivery of more parts in the future.
