The Afterlife

A touchy subject, the afterlife. Many think they have an idea of what it will be like, or where they think they are going. Most of us, however, cannot say for certain. There used to be many a debate about what the 'true' afterlife was, often attempting to be solved by sending the opponent to their own. Centuries of research have solved that issue, however, and the answer is...all of them. Every pantheon has constructed some sort of heavenly afterlife for their followers. The Serpents of Feathers and Flowers has been described as a heavenly city, where the joys of life can be forever enjoyed. The Seven Nyads are said to take their faithful into their own private grove where the weary soul may rest until the end of time. When one dies, their soul is brought to the afterlife that you are most familiar with. Often the one a person is born around. Should one find their 'destined' afterlife unappealing, it seems as simple as devoting one's self to another Pantheon.   That begs the question of where those that aren't worthy of entering a Pantheon's afterlife go? The Abyss. A mockery and mirroring of the Godrealm, where the demons and monsters of a culture breed and consume each other. While the Varang gods sit in their realm of Yggdrasil, the Surt, a race of frost giant sized fire spirits reside in a layer of the Abyss that shares their name.
