Ava Tiefling

An empty heart, an endless greed, and a merging of souls. These are the birth of the Ava-...   ...-Stuck in a cell after a lifetime of disappointment, alone and left to rot. It was not out of the question for Malise to want to end his life and move on to the next. What was unprecedented, was the demon that found it's way past the ward and into the stone box the man would die in-...   ...-His body faded from existence, his form turning into smoke as he slipped past the guards. As he did so, it was a wonder why people didn't allow demons to possess them to begin with. The power, the energy, it was likely intoxicating. It would explain why he didn't fight back before it was too late-...   ...-However, deals with the devil hardly ever have a happy ending. Malise got his wish. The demon took over his body and set him free, gave him power, gave him the world. It was a shame he would never be able to use it. Malise was no longer in control. He was just a puppet. A mask for the creature to wear-...
- Children of Pain
A strange form of tiefling, these are not an isolated case. Unlike the Libi and the Irae, who are limited to spread by blood. The Ava can be created at any time. Ava are created through bloodline, but they are also by being the child of a possessed victim. This means that they can be any race, as long as their father or mother were possessed at the time of their conception. Due to them being able to appear by multiple means, many consider the Ava to be a blight. A plague that will eventually take over the world if given enough time. However, this is a general thought of tieflings due to how their children are always tiiflings as well, regardless of partner.     Ava tieflings gain an ability generally only had by those possessed, the ability to enter a parallel and empty plane. However, while possessed can only do this indefinitely, Ava can only do it for a short time. This ability makes them perfect thieves as they can be there and gone in an instant.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Looking much like the race of their ancestry, Ava, like any tiefling, have a few things that define them. However, these differences can be easily hidden or obscured like others. For one, their black eyes give them away instantly as they are one of the only races to have such, besides the possessed, who have similar eyes. This can result in people mistaking them for possessed rather than tieflings. Secondly, a tail does sprout from their backside, ending in a barbed tail that can be used as a weapon of it's own. Lastly, instead of their fingers ending in fingernails, the flesh hardens into viciously shapr claws that, like their tail, can be a deadly weapon.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ava always have Ava children with their origin race and with other Ava. However, they can also be created as the child of a possessed parent. When having a child with another tiefling besides Ava, genetics come into play. The Ava gene is a middle ground compared to others, dominant against submissive genes, but submissive against dominant genes.

Abilities
Child of Many: Choose another race. You gain +1 to a score that race gains. You also gain that race's primary language.   Flickering Form: You've gained the ability to shift into a parallel plane exactly like the reality you just left for a short time. You can enter this plane using one RP and exit it without taking an action. However, if you enter this plane during combat, you have until the end of your next turn before you are forcibly shoved out. Outside of combat, you can focus more on the ability and enter the plane for up to ten minutes. This plane has no life whatsoever and all inanimate objects remain as they were in the previous reality, but losing all momentum, meaning swords, arrows, fireballs, ect. fall short. You cannot take items from this plane into reality nor do any of your actions in this plane affect reality. While in this plane, you have double movement speed and are semi incorporeal, able to move through a max of two inches of solid matter. Those outside, in reality, can still see your form, but only as a flickering shadow, possibly losing track of you if you enter areas of low light. Once you use this ability, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.   Bodily Harm: When without a weapon, you can easily use your body as one. You have control of your tail as if it were a third arm, able to interact with objects, structures, enemies, ect. as your arms can. Your tail is also equipped with a barbed end that deals 1d6 piercing or slashing damage if used as a weapon.
