Vierwyn's Mirror

Treasure (Rating 1)

Vierwyn's Mirror was a reward to an intrepid motley of Kithain for the rescue of Vierwyn, a pooka then afflicted by Bedlam after an unknown span of time in the Dreaming.

This fae Treasure is a hand mirror. The frame is carved black maple. The mirror's surface is an antique mercury amalgam.

Upon activation, Vierwyn's Mirror simulates the effects of the Autumn Cantrip: Autumn Eyes, with an inherent focus on seeing "the truth of things." Somewhat like a holographic image, the mirror can be turned this way and that to show both a changeling's mortal mien and their fae mien. It might also pierce illusions and masks, mundane or magical, depending on the cleverness of its owner. Any magical revelation granted by the mirror can only be seen by the one who holds it.

In the spirit of its lengthy pooka ownership, Vierwyn's Mirror might show hidden truths but it's rather shy about such truths being voiced. If the owner speaks words related to a truth being currently revealed by the mirror, the Treasure functions only as a regular though pretty and antique mirror for the remainder of the scene. The moment the one holding the mirror speaks the word "Look!" all will see naught but what a mundane mirror shows.
