Miss Jessa Slipknot
Advocate. Living Laugh. Moondog 2023.
Miss Jessa Slipknot is one of the most beloved figures in Moondog Barony, known for her bright laugh, big heart, and bigger presence. A plus-size Piskey with an unmistakable mop of curly blonde hair, she wears her identity with pride—jean jacket patched with a lesbian pride flag, queer pins and buttons jangling on her lapel, and thick-rimmed glasses that magnify her playful eyes. Her most notable fae feature is the long, elfin shape of her ears, often hidden beneath the curls unless she’s feeling particularly mischievous.
Jessa’s face is graced with soft creases and lines earned through years of grinning, cackling, and shaking with laughter. She was the Moondog of 2023—a title she now refers to as “a whole beautiful mistake”—and remains one of the loudest champions of queer, Kinain, and mortal Dreamers throughout the Lakewood and Gordon Square.
Though her Piskey nature is naturally evasive, Jessa is paradoxically one of the most visible community organizers in Moondog. She’s a director at the Cleveland LGBTQ+ Center and can be found flitting between drag brunches, artist co-ops, neighborhood festivals, and the occasional poetry slam. Her word holds weight, and when she speaks, even the rowdiest redcaps tend to shut up and listen. She has a gift for making everyone feel like they matter—and an equal gift for delivering a barbed truth wrapped in honey.
She’ll joke about her Piskey charm, but there's real strength in her—one she needed when the ill-fated “Goblin Proposal” of 2023 went awry, dragging her into reluctant infamy. Though the incident left scars (and several broken bones among bystanders), Jessa came through it with her grace and pride intact.
Legacy
Jessa is a champion of self-expression and queer liberation, and she hates when others try to impose seriousness or shame upon anyone’s identity or dreams.
- If you want her respect, stand up for the weirdos, the marginalized, and the underdog.
- If you want her trust, bring receipts. Piskeys don't love secrets unless they're the ones keeping them.
- If you want her help, be honest. Even if you’re messy. Especially if you’re messy.
- If you cross her, don't be surprised when your next public event features a drag queen reading your diary aloud.
Jessa is no spell-slinger or duelist. Her strength is her network. If she decides to help you, the doors of half the city may quietly open. If she decides you’re a danger? You’ll find they all quietly close.
She has an especially close friendship with Nova, and when the Eshu matriarch calls, Jessa answers.
