2019: The Moondog Child and the Rising Summit

“Do not confuse my size with the size of my dreams.”
Moondog Beau Simons, at the Cleveland Rising Summit

In 2019, the Kithain of Cleveland elected the youngest Moondog in recorded history — a Childling Boggan named Beau Simons, just eleven years old. Despite his youth, Beau’s poise and eloquence captured the imagination of the Court of the Glam Slam, and many fae agreed that he spoke with the calm precision of someone who had lived many lives before.

Whispers soon spread that Beau might be the reincarnation of the revered Boggan, Orris, one of the original souls of the Cleveland's Sixth City days. While Beau himself neither confirmed nor denied the possibility, he claimed to have no recollection of past lives and often blinked in bashful confusion when pressed.

That autumn, Beau was selected as a student participant in the Cleveland Rising Summit, a mortal civic event focused on creating a more equitable and sustainable future for Cleveland. In a speech that electrified Dreamers and Kithain alike, Beau extolled the Summit’s Guiding ValuesAccountability, Transparency, Courage, Love, and Equity — and suggested they be formally adopted by the Moondog Barony.

His proposal, though broadly celebrated, provoked political backlash from some more cynical or Unseelie-leaning commoners, who saw the move as naïve or even suspiciously idealistic. One Unseelie Redcap was heard muttering, “You let kids run things, you get bedtime stories instead of blood pacts.”

Yet despite grumbles, 2019 was widely seen as a year of surging Glamour throughout the city — from Gordon Square’s glowing murals to Solstice Park’s Dreaming-rich gatherings.

Among Dreamers, Beau became something of a folk hero — a symbol of hope before the long shadow of 2020.
