1970: The Loss of Korrigan Blackforge
On the night of May 1, 1970, Korrigan Blackforge, known to many Nockers as the "Starwright," was among the first to fall in the Night of Iron Knives, when rogue Sidhe—opposed to power-sharing—slaughtered dozens of Commoner emissaries in an unforgettable betrayal of the honor that the attacking nobles had feigned.
The grief in Cleveland was seismic. The Starwright's motley never truly recovered. The Commoners of the Moondog Barony carried his death like a welded scar into the Accordance War, citing his murder as a symbol of noble treachery and proof that sidhe “peace” was often only a quieter form of domination.
Legacy
- The Starwright’s Forge, the old Freehold where Korrigan once worked, is said to be sealed in deep slumber, its balefire dormant, its anvil cold. No one has dared to reopen it since his death.
- Every Verdant Gala, a candle is lit in Korrigan’s honor, and the Moondog raises a toast “to the clever ones who reach for heaven.”
- His lost tools—some enchanted, others chimerical—are said to be scattered through Cleveland’s Dreaming. It is whispered that if one were to reassemble them, they could make the Dreaming sing toward the stars again.
