Fidget, The Exploring Chef

Clover "Fidget" Grenadine is a young halfling girl born in a small town named Skillet, within The Golden Expanse. She is the only daughter in a long line of chefs, cooks, and storytellers that made her family's restaurant, Cast-Iron Cookery a long standing and locally respected establishment.  Currently, Fidget has been seen wandering all of Sinstram, collecting recipes, flavor pallets, and stories from anywhere that will have her, so she can return home with a new menu, and secure her legacy.

History

Early Life

While most commonly known to strangers and friends as "Fidget", she was named Clover Grenadine after her grandmother when she was born in 1065 A.E. (Arrival Era), to her parents Janella and Joseph Grenadine. It was obvious fairly on to both her parents that she was a bundle of positive energy, that often went out of her way to help others, including adults, children, and whatever animals she would come across. As a result, she slowly built up a growing collection of formerly vagrant animals she kept within eyeshot of her childhood room above the family restaurant, which became an impromptu petting zoo to keep children occupied when waiting for food. She built the kennels and fences with her father, and decorated them with paints and crafts with the help of other children around Skillet.   Shortly after she began to form full sentences, it was obvious she had a stutter that would come and go, typically with her energy levels. When she became excited, scared, or uncertain about something, she would find herself tripping over her own words and repeating short phrases or parts of words over and over. This persisted from her very early childhood, and persisted throughout her adult years. Paired with her constant uplifting energy, it earned her the nickname Fidget.   Despite her stutter, she quickly grew a love for song, which she got from her mother. The two would often sing as they worked side by side in the kitchens, tending to her animals, or for guests that visited the family from all over. She would later use her boundless energy to learn guitar, which she picked up from the bards that would often visit Cast-Iron Cookery in exchange for treats she would sneak out of the kitchen.   Besides her animal wrangling and growing love of music, Fidget was taught how to and the importance of an honest days work. When not receiving private lessons from her educated mother or working on her other hobbies, she would often do grunt work around the kitchen, dealing with trash, dirty dishes, and catching the occasional rat.

Teenage Years

As Fidget got older and was expected to be more responsible, her mother insisted she learn the family business and gave her the Grenadine Family Cookbook, a patched together tome of notes, handwritten recipes, and hand drawn instructions that the grandmother she was named after condensed into one encyclopedia of information. Janella explained to the growing fidget that the restaurant has been in the family for generations, and each recipe in the book was the greatest thing her ancestors had created in their lives. Some had simple puddings or staple dishes with a twist, while others had full blown 3 course meals and rare ingredients. Before she died, Fidget was expected to add her own recipe to the back of the book, one that would let future generations know who she was, and what she was about.   Nearly 10 years of working in the kitchen and experimentation helped hone her skills as she failed and succeeded at her work in the restaurant alongside her mother. Despite their hard work however, the town of Skillet slowly became poorer and poorer due to failing crop harvests, and as a result, the Cast-Iron Cookery was losing customers. By the 3rd year of decline, it seemed the resturant would need to shudder it's doors and close down, ending a near century long history of the family business. Seemingly in a stroke of luck, the Goldaco Family bought or funded nearly every major business in town shortly after arriving, saving the family business, but now owning a large portion of it.

Adventuring

After the near collapse of the family business, and no special dish of her own to add to the family cookbook, Fidget came to a conclusion. Of all the adventurer's, nobles, merchants and other travelers that stopped in her family restaurant, she knew their was something special waiting for her. Something that would inspire her dish and cement her legacy in her family name. The idea of using the same ingredients over and over, only to simply remix dishes others have done had little interest to her, and she knew that with enough time, she could make something unlike anything else in the cookbook.  So Fidget left home when she was 22, and began to explore the world.
