Codran

God of Strength, War, and Passion

Origin

Before Sinstram's oldest races could walk, speak, or sharpen a spear, Cordran was watching them. Before, only amused by the wildlife and game between predator and prey, it is said he created the spear, sling, and club and gifted one of each to the first three tribes he found. As they went to war by his command, he watched satisfied from a hilltop, occasionally goading the tribes as they came closer to peace. As time passed, and nonstop fighting tore apart the groups from outside and within, the 3 tribes all collapsed, and Codran had to learn a new word, Restraint. Worried both about losing all his new gladiators and the ideas they could bring, he took it open himself to only invoke war when it could prove to be the most interesting. Eventually, as humans, elves, dwarves, and the other races all began to control and master magic, he found his goading was needed less and less. He quickly traveled the world, visiting every battlefield he could to see how tactics and weapons evolved.

Places of Worship

Codran is not one of the most worshiped gods, but based on the size and distinct build of his temples, that fact is not obvious. His temples, often round in construction and with multiple floors, are all marked by a distinct sand pit regressed into the ground at the exact center of the building. These sand pits are used for a variety of tasks but are typically used to test the mettle of his followers, for training new recruits, or for other acts of physical prowess. A battle master is often saddled with taking in a variety of followers who stay in bunkhouses nearby or within the temple itself, training and hardening their minds and bodies. All members of the temple are expected to help maintain it, and it is common for poor labor families to send their young men and women to these temples for a few years so they may be fed consistently, learn life skills, and how to defend themselves.

Followers

Being a devoted follower of Codran is a very easy task, fight often and fight well. From miners in brawling pits after work, to commanders leading the charge, Codran smiles upon all those who would take up arms to fight for a cause, even if it was as simple as defending a woman's honor. Those unaware of Codran, still get his blessing on occasion if they prove themselves enough times; Granted small boons and magical powers simply to better provide him entertainment. Those who actively follow and worship him, are the ones arranging fighting tournaments, military mercenary companies, and other means of allowing people to fight for profit or fun.
