The Time Weaver

“A long time ago, before the dragons and humans warred against each other and the dragon queen ruled there was a peaceful village far to the north. Each of the villagers was adept in many different forms of magic, all but one child.

This child was called Kaltu and she was laughed at and picked on. She was born to a family of dragonborne but yet was not like them. She was half human, and had no magical compatibility.

Kaltu was always fascinated with the flow of time, as it reminded her of the river: powerful and never ending. She would flee to the trees and ponder time, wishing that she could understand it. She researched everything she could, but could only come to the conclusion that time was as wild as magic itself, and couldn’t be controlled.

As time went by and she matured, she never gained the use of magic. Her older brother Vorktklan pitied her, and so he prayed to the gods above, beseeching them to aid her so that she could stand by his side as an equal.

His prayers were not in vain, as the gods looked upon them with favor. They granted Kaltu the knowledge she so desired in one simple phase:

‘Time is a tapestry, and you are the needle.’

With this newfound understanding, Kaltu began to learn how time ebbed and flowed, finally mastering a technique to see through time. Once again the gods smiled upon her and granted her a needle that would allow her to weave the threads of fate. Kaltu however seemed disinterested, instead using the needle as such.

Years passed by and Kaltu seemed content, her understanding of time and combat serving her well on her journeys. She invented the warrior dances and was the first to ever discover the amulets.

Kaltu died in a tragic accident, with her final wish being that the knowledge she had gleaned from the divine to not be lost to time itself. In her final act, she created the Sersunarky or the time weavers able to dance between the threads of magic and time to weave their tapestries."
