Galvantix
Basic Information
Anatomy
Head
The Galvantix have unique characteristics on their head and necks unlike most other species.
Their jaws resemble large hooked beaks, not unlike raptors (large birds of prey)
They have two rows of razor sharp teeth in their upper and lower jaws
They have long round and forked tounges similar to a snake or lizard
Their eyes appear to be entirely white, even though they are not blind. These blank eyes glow softly in darkness.
They have very short ears on the sides of their heads that don’t protrude from the head (like most birds and reptiles.) They are basically just holes in the sides of the head.
They have a small slit for a nose rather than a fleshy one
Main body
The Galvantix have long, stocky bodies similar to traditional dragons with adaptations brought on from their unique environment
They have two layers of scales. The underlayer consists of small tightly packed scales similar to snakes, while the upper layer has large scales that heavily overlap and are typically of a darker color.
The spines along their back allow for more maneuverability in flight.[br They have a highly muscular body mostly concentrated in their shoulders, chest, and hindquarters.
Wings
The Galvantix have very few wing adaptations due to the lack of use in the forest. However there are a few key features that are important to consider.
They will usually appear to have tears and holes in them. This is due to their tendency to get caught in trees or attacked by prey. Their wings will heal with a clear membrane.
They are usually smaller than normal preventing them from flying for long periods, essentially grounding them.
They will usually not have any scales on them at all, only a leathery skin, which is also found underneath the underlayer of scales.
Tail
The Galvantix have very thick and powerful tails which they use for many things.
Their tail has a small barb on its tip with a neurotoxin that can cause paralysis.
They have exceedingly strong muscles that allow them to constrict their tail on prey, like a snake.
They can adjust the position of the outer scales on their tail to grip onto things better, like prey or tree bark.
Arms, Legs, and Talons
The Galvantix have adapted to life in the forest and have optimized themselves to fit in. These are just a few key pieces about their legs and talons.
Their front legs have opposable thumbs which allows them to grasp onto things much easier.
They have long digits to more easily grasp thicker branches.
Their talons are long and hooked to allow them to better grip the tree bark.
Dietary Needs and Habits
The Galvantix hunt large prey, usually any unsuspecting dragon that wanders too close to the forest. They will first find a target. Then they will lure them into the forest using the glow from their eyes, horns, and wings. Once their target is far enough into the forest, the Galvantix will tightly wrap their tail around the neck of the victim and choke them to death. Alternatively, they will sting the victim, or simply tear out the throat. They will however, always leave the main body intact.
Behaviour
The Galvantix are usually solitary hunters, but they live in large numbers. They live in the trees, in treetop villages. They will cling to the trunks when resting or gathering. They have no definite leader, nor any form of leadership whatsoever. They can communicate in both their own language and in Sineran Draco. If an intruder is found in the forest, they will remain in the treetops to ambush from above. They will rarely fly for much, due to the small areas between the trees.
