Strongkettle's Boardinghouse (Strong-Kettle's Boardinghouse)
A 3-story building, The Boardinghouse is ramshackle Run down and in need of repair. It is furnished with sturdy but unfashionable pieces in need of updating. Rooms are decorated with an eclectic mix of items, each room themed differently. Garish wallpapers, bright colours, odd knick-knacks.
The first floor contains most of the general living areas for the boardinghouse and a once-grand entrance hall doubles as a service area for people looking to hire a suit for a term or to settle and pay bills There is a counter close to the front door with a locked cabinet under it containing numbered room keys Behind the counter can be seen a large spiral staircase leading up to the second and third floors. A Large Dining room adjoins the entrance hall through a set of never closed double doors. The living area adjoins the dining area through an open archway and the kitchen is through a single door off the rear of the dining area. The Common room features a floor-to-ceiling wall of bookcases with many eclectic books, a fireplace and an odd mix of sofas, lounge and armchairs scattered around the room. The Dining room has enough seating on two long tables for 12 people. The Kitchen is small but has all the necessary accoutrements.
The second floor is reserved for rooms for the boarders, Each suite has a bedroom and its own ensuite bathroom, There are 4 good sizes suites on this floor, 2 with double beds and 2 with 2 single beds in each.
The Third floor is split into two main sections, to the left is Mira's Private rooms, As the only member of staff who lives on the property she has reserved half of the top most floor as her private space, it has a bedroom, ensuite bathroom as well as a private sitting room and separate office. The rooms in this section are smaller, but serve Mira Strongkettle's needs.
The Other side of the Third floor is split into the two remaining rooms, these are similar to those on the second floor, both containing 2 single beds each and having their own private ensuite.
The front garden is small but well looked after, boasting bright flowering shrubs in the spring and a tiered fountain that doesn't run, a gate off to the right leads to a small orchard at the side of the building. To the rear of the building, there is a skinny alleyway where extra supplies and gardening necessities are kept in a locked shed.
Owned and Run by Mira Strongkettle. Staffed by a Scullery Maid, A Cook and a Butler. A Gardner also visits weekly to care for the garden and orchard.
Purpose / Function
To provide a resting place or short/long stay for travellers, business people, tourists and passer's through.
Architecture
The building is built from stone bricks and has a short stone fence surrounding its front garden, the Orchard is walled in by a 1.5-meter tall stone wall, and can be accessed from a doorway in the Common Room or through a locked wrought iron gate archway from the front garden. There are many glazed windows on each floor of the building, Those on the ground floor are larger and fewer than those on floors higher up.
There is a single step leading to a double wooden door at the entrance.
History
Mira came to Annia and settled in the boardinghouse 50 years ago, She has maintained it well, it was once the home of an excentric lordling in the early days of Annia, who built his townhouse away from the hustle and bustle of the affluent districts of the city for some privacy, he fell on hard times and had to sell the building and returned to his country estate. Mira bought the property from him.
